They just had Nate on, and some interesting points. - The Blazers had the exit interview with Greg, and called it an important offseason for him and next season is even more important in his development. Sounded like the assistant coaches, Nate and KP wanted Greg to be around Portland so they could work with him on his conditioning. But Greg plans to go back home to Ohio State to work out, and go to summer school. Nate plans to go visit him a couple times, and the assistants will be there for G.O. if he needs them. Sounded like Nate was a little disappointed since he said while school is important, he has a career now and needs to focus on it and Greg needs to make sure he's working on getting better. I guess we'll see if Greg is dedicated enough this summer. - As for Brandon Roy, Nate wouldn't mind him getting lighter in weight and felt B-Roy doesn't need to bulk up too much like he did last offseason. Nate thought being lighter and quicker wasn't a bad thing.
MB now insulting Houston fans, saying they're not very good fans since they need to be told what to yell and that kind of stuff, calling them a corporate audience. Kind of bitter toward them yelling Portland sucks, and now Wheels chimes in to talk about how the city of Houston didn't even look like they knew a playoff series was going on.
MB saying Houston fans by the bench were yelling the 'n' word at Martell, and the security people didn't know what to do with them. But Webster handled it well.
Sounds like they got a nice college of dentistry at Ohio State. http://www.professional.osu.edu/dent.asp
Greg did summer school last year, as did Mike Conley Jr, and Kevin Durant. This isn't really a big deal. Lots of athletes do it.
KP will be on at the top of the hour and sounded like he got the Houston treatment with beer being poured on him. Pre-draft workouts will also begin next week to work out potential second-rounders. Martell Webster will play in summer league.
I think the thing was that they feel Greg would be better off spending part of his summer in Portland working out and getting in shape. And while he said he'll play at Ohio State, they don't feel playing there against subpar competition will help him get better. But the organization knows G.O. is a sensitive guy, and you can't really tell these guys what to do every day in the summer. They just want him to be the best he can be prepared for when October rolls around.
- KP will get aggressive in the draft again, but knows the team needs some experience. - And now MB lobbing softball questions.
Thanks for the updates! However, I find it funny that people on this board have no trouble say the f-word, but not the n-word
- KP feels Webster will have a breakthrough season next year. - Nicolas was in the practice facility yesterday, working out and working on his game. Seems to be eager to get back in the gym.
- In regards to Greg, KP said the next level has to come from Greg. It's up to him how far he wants to go, and feels Greg can take this team from a 54-win team to a great team. - KP said he doesn't feel Greg was in shape at all this year, but his PER was great. Greg also needs to work on his footwork and his foul trouble, obviously.
- KP feels the team will have to compete with other Euro teams in regards to Joel Freeland. He hurt his ankle midseason but came back and was 8-10 FG and had 10 rebounds in a game. Freeland had a 'really, really good year' and is a 'really good prospect' but there might be competition for his services. - Koponen played behind Earl Boykins for his Euro team. - As for Houston fans, they're 'different' than Portland fans. We know the game and respect the game, but Houston fans were a little 'malicious'. Lots of things were said by Rocket fans to the TV crew, KP, the players and Blazer people.
KP dancing around the topics of Houston fans. Basically, he's saying Portland fans know the game....when a question of Houston fans turns into the positive behavior of Blazer fans, their intelligence, etc... you can tell he's dancing around their behavior. So I'll interpret his words. "Houston fans are immature and inappropriate. They are garbage, and don't understand the game."
Yeah, I think I read he was playing for the French national team? That'll be interesting to see how he does.
