With an unstable ownership situation there Monty Williams may opt out this summer and could be available for the Blazers. That's what Eggers and 'Tone are hearing.

Monte coaches at an even slower Pace than Nate, and isn't even near as efficient.

He's not Nate though. That should help some posters here welcome him with open arms.

Plus, he'd meet the Bert Kolde/Paul Allen "yes man" role, so that's a plus.

The other tidbit -- Joakim Noah could be a target on draft night.

I like monty ... he comes from the JVG school which means slow possesion based offense but that also includes a real defensive scheme so I'm down.

I agree. I don't think it's any coincidence that Nic Batum was viewed as a terrific defensive player when Monty was an assistant here. I remember one game where Nic got into scoring and Monty told him that he was hurting the team because he was slacking on defense. I think Monty would work well with Kaleb Canales as well, so there wouldn't be any problem keeping him on as an assistant.

They just know that it'll take a lot to get him.

In terms of availability and what you'd have to give up I'd much rather focus on DeMarcus Cousins who has been on the block in both of his years in the NBA.

You start the package with that. I didn't say that's all it would take.

I like DeMarcus Cousins. I liked JR Rider too until I learned of the character flaws the dude had. Cousins has the same problem, I'm afraid. But he is a talent.

Canzano brought this up but I wouldn't be opposed to offering up LaMarcus for a guy who can be that #1 guy down the road.

    LMA is a #2/#3.

Nic's Drtg has been 107 in his four years, with one season (last year) at 108.

Are we really advocating Monty Williams for head coach?

Yes, I'm hoping to get someone more versatile, not to stay the same.
