    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Las Vegas, NV -- Zuffa, LLC, the parent company

    UFC Red Zip Front Sweatshirt

of the Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®), has been informed by the Texas Court of Appeals that it has granted Zuffa’s Motion to Compel Randy Couture to arbitrate in the District of Nevada, thereby staying all further action by HDNet against Zuffa in the state of Texas.

Specifically, the Court of Appeals found that the lower court had engaged in “a clear abuse of discretion” by permitting HDNet to litigate claims relating to Mr. Couture’s contract in Texas, rather than in Nevada, where Zuffa is presently pressing a breach of contract action against Mr. Couture.

Upon learning of the court’s decision, Zuffa’s Las Vegas counsel, Donald J. Campbell, Esq., explained the significance of the ruling:

“The practical effect of the Court’s decision is to allow Zuffa to continue its prosecution of claims against Mr. Couture in the Arbitration presently underway here in Nevada without any regard to the flaccid claims of HDNet and its management. Based upon evidence uncovered during the interrogation of Mr. Couture during his deposition, we have every confidence that Mr. Couture will be held accountable for the serious and ongoing breaches of his contractual obligations to Zuffa.”

The successful appeal to the Texas Court of Appeals was achieved by Mr. Barry F. McNeil, Esq. and his partners at the Texas law firm Haynes Boone, LLP.</div>

So this boils down to the UFC either suing Randy Couture for not honouring his contract and costing the UFC/Zuffa millions of dollars as a result, both in legal fees and revenue, or the UFC and Couture negotiating for him to finish his contract correctly, which seems impossible. At the end of the day the odds of Couture competing anywhere outside of the UFC are basically nil at this point.

Is there any way of knowing how many fight's that Randy Couture has left on his contract? That is how the UFC works right, by number of fight's, not number of year's right? Depending how many he has left, I would like to see him get in the cage with Big Nog, and see how he does, as well as I would like to see him maybe fight someone like Brock Lesnar who is a former college wrestler? Those could be interesting fights I would think. I realise that he is pretty pissed off with the UFC for trying to be cheap with their biggest bread maker, and also not going out and getting the best competition(Fedor,) for him to fight, and I think he rightfull should be pissed off about that stuff, but it's just something I would wish to see.

I don't see why Couture just doesn't fight his whatever remaining fights and get this thing over with, he could have finished his contract what? a year ago?

I agree, he probably at most only had 2-3 fights left on his contract.

Couture has 2 fights left. I think he's feeling his age and just wants to try and beat the best HW ever in Fedor and hang'em up.

I also think he's kinda going through a mid-life crisis mixed with his raised profile with the explosion in the sport. Him and Chuck really stood out kinda like Magic and Larry when the NBA regained popularity.

Randy got a big head, dumped his wife, got a new girl etc etc and thinks he's entitled to fight Fedor regardless of his contract.

If Randy fights anyone else and loses the luster of a Couture/Fedor fight is gone.
