The Boys came out of the gate ugly and really couldn?t get into a rhythm. Clouds are dark but there were some silver linings.

Ron Wolfe, former Packer GM, spent a couple weeks at Valley Ranch at the request of Parcells. Wolfe feels that the Cowboys may have found their franchise QB in Drew Henson. Henson has looked pretty sharp during camp, and the first preseason game was no different. Not huge numbers?..8 of 11 for 94 yards?.. but his passes were crisp and generally on-target. He did throw one pick in the red zone, when he tried to put it into the end zone with 18 seconds left in the half. That was a bad mistake, but that will happen. He came back out in the third quarter and led a 10 play drive that ended with a missed FG. All in all, he looked to be the best Cowboys QB on the field. Vinny and his offense struggled to get into a rhythm, ending 4 of 7. Tony Romo, throwing his first pass on the field ever (like Henson) struggled in the fourth quarter as well.

The good news is that Dallas got a good look at 70 players, which is incredible for one game. That may have led to the problems in getting a rhythm. Starting next week, Parcells will be playing people that will be playing long-term and less ?to get a look at them?.

The young OL struggled a little. The defense looked a little soft, first team included, but I have to give some props to David Carr. He looked pretty good.

I also have to point out that in pretty limited action, Julius Jones looked good. He ran very smooth, and ended up leading the Cowboys in rushing with about 57 yards on 8 carries. Sure, it was against the Texans backups, but I was less impressed with 56 yards and more impressed on his running style and moves. He is going to be a good pickup.

The only way Patrick Crayton makes it on the team is through special teams?.and he just might have done it with one preseason game?

As pitiful as the game went, I was happy to see the promising future of the Cowboys offense.
