Criminal charges resulting from the Feb. 26 traffic stop of Miami Heat free-agent guard Carlos Arroyo in Coral Gables have been dropped.

After a hearing on July 9, the state dismissed charges of failure to obey a lawful order and resisting arrest without violence. The incident occurred while Arroyo was driving to practice at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Arroyo pled "no contest" to the non-criminal traffic infraction of driving too slow. Adjudication is being withheld, with no formal finding of guilt. He was ordered to pay $119 in court costs.

A statement was released Monday from Arroyo, through attorney Larry Kerr, that read, "I wish to sincerely thank my family, friends, fans and the entire Miami Heat organization for their support during this difficult time. I am very relieved that this matter is over and that everyone now knows that I did not commit a crime that morning."

I'd like to see more of a shooter at his position.
