Chargers cornerback Antonio Cromartie was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week Wednesday following his two-interception performance against the Jets Monday night.

In addition, Bolts quarterback Philip Rivers is one of three signal callers in the running for the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week. Fans can vote for Rivers by logging onto NFL.com/FedEx. The winners will be announced Friday evening on NFL.com.

Cromartie posted a career-high nine tackles and two interceptions, including an interception-touchdown return. Cromartie registered two or more interceptions in a game for the fourth time in his career, and the Chargers’ are 4-0 when he accomplishes the feat.

On the first play of the second quarter, Cromartie recorded his first interception when he reached in front of a Brett Favre pass intended for Laveranues Coles and raced 52 yards for his second career interception-touchdown return. His second interception came late in the fourth quarter when he hauled in a Kellen Clemens pass in the back of the end zone to end a Jets scoring drive. Cromartie leads the NFL with 12 interceptions since 2007.

This is Cromartie’s third career Player of the Week Award. He previously won Defensive Player of the Week (Week 9) and Special Teams Player of the Week (Week 10) in 2007.

Rivers completed 19 of 25 passes for 250 yards and three touchdowns in the Chargers' win over the Jets. Rivers constantly put the Chargers in good field position allowing them to score at least one touchdown every quarter in their first win of the season.

Through three weeks, Rivers is the NFL’s highest-rated passer (124.8) and leads the NFL with nine touchdown passes. He’s thrown three touchdown passes in each of the Bolts’ first three games.

As part of the Air & Ground program for the first time, FedEx is teaming up with Safe Kids USA – a national non-profit organization that works to prevent accidental injury among children – to deliver safer kids by making weekly $1,000 donations in the winning players’ names. The funding directly benefits local Safe Kids coalitions in that team’s city, to fund pedestrian safety improvements throughout the year. This year, FedEx celebrates its fifth year of the program and will surpass the $1 million mark in funding to create safer communities for children.

Cromartie should've had 3 interceptions, two for a touchdown. He dropped the easiest interception that he'll ever come across...until he plays Peyton Manning again (had to do it, Huevon).

Rivers has been a beast this year, the best QB in the NFL so far, in my biased opinion. It's nice to see him get some positive media love.

Lol I knew that was coming.

It was crazy how they were being written off, they're still pretty talented. Rivers has surprised me and deserves the recent accolades.
