Thousands of people lined the streets of State College on Wednesday as a hearse bearing the late Joe Paterno slowly wound its way through the Penn State campus and the town. As the funeral procession passed by, the crowd was silent and looked onward. Inside the bus, some of Paterno's grandchildren waved to the crowd. One man reached out to touch the side of the hearse. Private funeral services for Paterno were held Wednesday afternoon. Afterwards, his casket was placed in a hearse for a procession past Beaver Stadium and the university library that bears his name.
