<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Celtics are still very much interested in retaining James Posey, but they may need to be concerned about another club offering the contract Posey is requesting, said to be at least four years at the mid-level exception. According to his representative, Mark Bartelstein, the Celts will probably not have a chance to match the right offer. "We're not trying to be tough here or anything, but I just don't think you can do that," Bartelstein said. "It'd be totally unfair for me to do that to the other teams that are involved in this. You can't ask them to make an offer just so you can take it back to Boston and see if they'll match it. I think that once you're a free agent, you're a free agent. You have to be fair to any team that's willing to make you an honest offer."</div> Boston Herald
riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight because you know, Agents would NEVER take and offer and try and get a better one from another team.. they just don't do that. Someone should tell Bartelstein to shovel his shit to someone else.
I think Posey's agent is just saying all of these type of things publicly to get Danny to up his offer. That's all it is. I think his agent will continue to say these things, Danny will call his bluff, and Pose will be back in green for 3 years. Maybe that's just wishful thinking, but there is no doubt in my mind that his agent is saying these things as a scare tactic.

Him, POB, and maybe Arroyo or even Marbury (if they let him go) and we'll be back contending again.
well now that we have Pat O'Bryant.. we don't need those scrubs.... okay, okay a little harsh for a back up I know. Of course it's a ploy by Posey's agent, it's a blatant and sad one at that.
I dont know if giving Posey 5.8 mill for 4 years is what the Celts should do considering they are in the luxury tax and Posey is 31. They do have to look into getting a backup PG as well as either re-signing Posey or getting a replacement.
