I wish I had time to read this whole thing instead of skimming through it. I also noticed that Avery was not completely against the Kidd trade; as he had veto powers in trade...that he obviously didn't use. Seems like he just had regret to me.

I think this is Cuban's attempt to let people know that Avery speaks with forked tongue, that he had veto power and didn't exercise it. Nelson has said the same thing in the past few days. One thing I found interesting was his extensive discussion of how the trade helps their long term cap issues (assuming he doesnt screw up again). That would SEEM to indicate that JKidd aint gonna get an extension there either.
But if Avery had vetoed the trade, he would have seriously compromised his job security! Sounds to me like he wants J-Kidd in 09, but not at current J-Kidd prices. This is just early posturing. TrueHoop made the good point that you can't really call yourself a good GM for "clearing cap space" if you're the one who signed Harris to the deal. I mean, it was one freaking year ago, and it looks like a steal for us. Not sure why Cuban's patting himself on the back for making a mistake, then making the team worse to cover for it.

Maggette, O'neal are a couple other names with shorter deals.
