The Chicago Cubs acquired catcher Miguel Montero from the Arizona Diamondbacks for two minor leaguers on Tuesday. In return for Montero, the Cubs sent right-handed pitchers Jeferson Mejia and Zack Godley to the Diamondbacks. Montero, 31, is a .264 career hitter with a .763 OPS over parts of nine seasons in Arizona. He made the National League All-Star team in 2011 and 2014. He is in the middle of a five-year, $60 million contract and has $40 million owed to him over the next three seasons.
