<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Cubs have spent a lot of time on the phone recently with A's GM Billy Beane trying to pry away right-hander Rich Harden, according to a Chicago Sun-Times report on Monday.

Beane's in a tough spot. This season was supposed to be about rebuilding after dealing Dan Haren to the D'Backs and Nick Swisher to the White Sox for a combined nine prospects, including five starting pitchers. Then the A's, even after dropping two straight to the White Sox over the weekend, made a run in the watered-down AL West, sitting six games behind the fragile Angels.</div>

I almost posted a similar thread this morning because I had seen some rumors, but I didnt feel I had enough to run with....great job finding the story to go with the rumors....btw, I would love it if they traded for Harden....his numbers are way better than Sabathias, his salary is much less, and hes younger....

I'm high on Harden. Too bad he is Canadian. j/k

He would form a nasty combo with Big Z. Allows them to push back Lilly and Dempster too.

Too bad he is always so fragile.

Zambrano, Harden, Dempster, Lilly is about as good a 1-4 as you will ever see....they dont need him to win it all, but it would be nice....
