We'll see how Stephen Curry plays. It would be nice to have at least 2 of our players on the court play some defense... we got scorers/shooters and not enough playmakers...
I have no idea what to expect from this kid, I think he really could average 20 ppg, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if he plays 7 minutes a game, averages 3 points, and gets traded before the season is over. With the Warriors and Nelson, it's always an adventure. But there is one thing I do know for sure. I'd rather have him than Crawford, at least with Curry I feel like there's a chance he can contribute to winning basketball.
Nelson's going to go with his guards late in the game. No surprise there. We might as well not even draft any centers or sign defensive players. Just grab the scoring small forwards and power forwards to play the 4/5. To hell with defense and rebounding, it's how fast you can wear out your players with 48 minutes of play and no rest and plenty of jump shots when you got no legs. Why even play Biedrins if Nelson will only play this guy 25-30 minutes or so rather than the 36 he deserves when he's got no foul trouble.
If you follow Curry on Twitter, you'll see that he regularly works out with Chris Paul and other NO Hornets players. I'd say that's a good guy to learn some PG attributes from.
All that court sense Paul has is probably from just playing the game a lot and having a natural mind for basketball decision making. I'm sure Curry has a good chance with his father being a pro and all. He taught him the fundamentals and all he needs is to get used to the nba pace and he'll know where his players are when he runs the plays. I mean which son of a former nba player would grow up with crappy fundamentals and poor team game? And back then the nba had more fundamentals and more team play. Nowadays, it's ride the coattails of your biggest stars. Thanks for posting the article, Shape
I think the stuff that Curry has can't be taught. It's finesse Mullin can teach Dunleavy the Junior to shoot, it doesn't mean Dunleavy's going to make it Part of shooting is all mental too. If you over-think, it screws up the rhythm going into the shot. I think that's also why Shaq can't make free throws. He does it fine in practice, but he can't do it in a real game is because he gets all nervous.
Speaking of Chris Paul (# 1 fantasy pick), is Sports Two doing an NBA Fantasy League this year? I just joined another league and got kicked into a mock draft.
