<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">2. With the lack of quality big men in the league, why hasn't Bulls center Eddy Curry received at least one offer on the free-agent market? Is his health still a concern? Curry's heart condition was a tough break, but he apparently didn't help his cause when he visited Atlanta three weeks ago on a free-agent visit. According to a team source, he showed up some 25 pounds overweight and then left a day early to attend a friend's baby shower. (A phone call to Curry's rep, Leon Rose, was not returned.) While Curry's extra weight might be understandable given that he missed the last three months of the season, it nonetheless raised red flags for a player who was known to have conditioning problems during his first three NBA seasons in Chicago. In a bad sign for Curry, the Hawks opted instead to offer Bucks center Zaza Pachulia a four-year, $14 million offer. Still, Curry has been more a victim of bad luck and timing than anything else. If he hadn't gone down with his irregular heartbeat late in the season, the 6-foot-11 center would have been one of the top free agents on the market. Though Curry has been cleared by his own doctors to resume playing, he has so far been unable to get coverage for his heart condition from the NBA's insurance provider. Also, like Tyson Chandler and Vladimir Radmanovic, the fact that he was a restricted free agent in a year when only a few teams had salary cap room also has further limited his bargaining power. The Hawks or some other team might yet make Curry an offer, but it's doubtful. Only the Clippers and Hornets still have enough cap room, and they aren't in the market for a center. Curry's best option now might be to accept Chicago's one-year qualifying offer, which would pay him $5.2 million, prove he's healthy and test the market again next summer when he'd be an unrestricted free agent.</div> Not good news if it is true. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writ...uestions/1.html
This isn't looking to good. I hope he didn't just play well last season because it was a contract year and become his lazy out of shape self again.
I don?t think it is true, but if it were I would understand. When you think about it he had no physical activity for two months since he was not cleared to do any thing physically. He has already stated he intents on being in better shape then he was last season when he returns to camp for whatever team that he is playing for.
I understand he might gain a bit of weight. 10 pounds, maybe 15 at the most, but 25 is too much IMO. He should've been eating healthy, and when you put that much weight on in a couple of months, he was probably still eating fatty foods.

A few days of the burger king dollar menu, and that right there will make you over weight. You also have to take into account how fast/slow his metabolism is. He gained around 7 pounds every two weeks if he did gain 25 pounds that is (they never said he gained it just that he was 25 over weight). I think that he might still have been a little over weight last season he lost weight, but was still not the smallest guy.
I am sure i read in a Curry article (possibly posted on this site) that he has been working out a lot in the off-season. Gaining weight on an already big frame cannot be good for a guy with some sort of heart problem. I hope it isnt true, unless its muscle. LOL.
Nothing to worry about. Curry is coming back and will have the best season of his career. then everyone will be wishing they sign him

OWWWWWWWWWWWWWT OFFFF SHAAAAAAPE!!! lets just hope he doesn't have his own cooking show by november; or worse, an eddie curry grill set.
Curry played great last season, hopefully things dont change. Gaining 25 pounds is simply careless especialy if you say your going to get in shape. But hopefully that article isnt true and Curry will come back for the Bulls and have another stellar season.

I mean he had health issues that kept him from doing anything for basically the last month of the season, all of June, and a better part of July. I think if he some how has a problem with his metabolism or something of that nature or if the Hawks weighed him on a chart, and not from his original weight which he was when the season ended those would be two viable excuses. I am not trying to condone the fact he is overweight, but I doubt when a man is having heart troubles working out is a top priority for him. Anyway he still has two full months to lose weight if he loses the weight at the same rate he gained it he should be at least back to the weight he should be by opening day. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheTruth5:</div><div class="quote_post">But hopefully that article isnt true and Curry will come back for the Bulls and have another stellar season.</div> I think to a certain extent it is true, but the numbers may have been over exaggerated a bit to throw some of the criticism away from Hawks management on their choice not to offer him a contract.

Gaining 20+ pounds for normal people is a bigger deal then for a guy who ( in top shape)weighes twice as much as the average human.
