We could use an extra 3 point option off the bench in the playoffs. He fits great with the locker room and knows both offensive, defensive systems. Get it done Neil!
I've thought about picking him up...he's going to contribute more than Kaman...I'd keep Montero though
How many 3 point shooters do we need off the bench? Leonard and Crabbe shoot them well. Even Henderson (percentage-wise) is good to this point.
He is just a really likeable guy it seems like, I am guessing that's why a lot of people back him there is also that one time
Do NOT cut Montero. He's going to be good, I can feel it. If you don't believe me, check with my cousin Homerstradamus, or Riverman.
Montero is the future. Wright is the past. Do not cut Montero for Wright. Maybe Kaman, or even Conaughton, but even then it's questionable.
That much (if any) better then the 3 guys I mentioned? When they are put in the proper role, I have been very pleased with those 3 guys D this year as well. I would just pass.
If the Heat waits until March 7/8, the Heat will consider players from a list it has compiled –– one that includes Dorell Wright, Wroten, Jordan Crawford, Jason Thompson, D-League players and some others likely to be available.
Hendo is shooting well at the moment but isn't reliable; he only does it from the short corner. Crabbe is great. Meyers is fine shooting wise but he's so terrible defensively we can't play him in many matchups. Wright would really be on the roster to play in place of Aminu or Harkless if we need a SF/PF shooter on the court. Some series he might not play at all but against certain matchups he could be a key role player.
I don't think they can sign anyone and stay under the luxury tax. They had to get a buyout with injured Beno just to sign Joe Johnson.
Wright wouldn't play. So, the larger issue is "how many end of the bench vets do you want?" NO doesn't want too many, that much is clear.
The only additional role player we are lacking, for the remainder of this season, is maybe a rim protector. (And I doubt there is a rim protector that is worth a damn that is still available) There is no reason to give up a young player for any other type of role player. If they have no intentions of keeping Montero next year, than OK..... cut him. But If they are not sure...... then keep him.
