We have to cut two to get to 15. Cuts: Phil Pressey Omari Johnson We carry 13 active (or has this changed?). Inactives: Cliff Alexander Luis Montero We will probably go 10 deep on the rotation. Out of the Rotation: Chris Kaman Pat Connaughton Tim Frazier Any disagreements?
Slightly... or maybe just more of an asterisk, but when foul trouble comes, and it will.. then Kaman and Connaughton will get burn.
I was actually tempted to put Henderson out of the rotating and put Frazier in but I can't see the coach going for that and CJ has proven to me that he can handle 12 mins a game at backup PG so most likely a moot point now.
I think Montero gets cut and Pressey makes the roster (for now). I would love for Portland to find a BIG PG to start grooming. Absent of that, I see Pressey making it.
I disagree with this. Pressey doesn't have much of an upside and though Montero may be a bit more of a project, his upside is huge and he has PG handles Ive been told by Harry's Raincoat. We already have Connaughton, CJ, Dame Frazier who all have PG or near PG skills. I don't think we need Pressey as well and I don't think he beats Frazier out. Frazier has more time with Dame and the system.
We have 15 on our roster even after cuts. They moved the active players from 12-13 because teams are required to have at least 13 people on the roster. We would have 2 inactive as we are over 13.
I deleted my post you quoted by accident. I was wrong. CBA FAQ http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q79 Normally an NBA team can have a maximum of 15 players on its roster during a season (and up to 20 during the offseason). A team normally has 12 or 13 players on its Active List, who are eligible to play in games, and can have as few as 11 for up to two weeks at a time. Any remaining players must be on the team's Inactive List, and are ineligible to play in games.
If Monetero had any shot of making the roster, you would think he would at least get a little burn here & there. There have been several comments made by the reporters (Quick, Columbian beat guy, etc) who have said Montero will likely be cut. Throw in Stott's comments about how challenging he has had it - I just don't think he makes it.
You can only play 13 guys max. We will have 15. Even if they kept Pressey he wouldn't play ever (unless major injuries hit) so why not keep the guy who might (key word, might) have a future on our team in the years ahead? I think POR has plans of sending Montero to the D-League.
I completely agree with your logic, just not your assessment. I just have a feeling that POR has enough evidence (from practice, etc) that Montero has NO shot. POR needs to find a different reclamation project to invest in. I think Pressey hangs on to the roster spot until they find that project.
Denny you ever consider letting us "cut or release" posters on here that are complete No Basketball Knowledge Having Ass Clowns? There'd only be about 25 of us left! #OneCanDream
