AF hopes he'll spark. I don't really care, but the Reds are in the same division as my team, so screw them.
This was a terrific pick up for the Diamond Backs, they take a gamble but it may pay off if. If Hernandez can just control himself on the mound and become the pitcher he was a year ago this may push the D'Backs over the top.
I still think that Livan can win 10 games, but his era is high these days. He's a control pitcher if there ever was one. Greg Maddux is much better than him though.
Greg Maddux is not much better. They are right there together even though Maddux is like 10 years older... We don't need Livan to be great, we need him to be an innings eater to give our bullpen some rest and that's what he did today. He gave us 8 solid innings and starts like these are what I expect from him(it was in a losing effort but I was still happy with his pitching). I like Juan Cruz but putting a good pitcher like him in the bullpen would also help keep the other relievers fresh. They are probably the most overworked bullpen in the league. I'm hoping that Cruz gets his starting job back soon but I love this trade because it can only help us or keep us where we are. Those two minor leaguers we gave up were decent but the people who know about them think 1 will be a bust and if either reaches their full potential it will only be as a 3rd or 4th starter so no real loss there. We didn't give up our best minor league pitcher.Livan's 60 mph curve is awesome. Also his experience can be important if we reach the playoffs.
