Mckie signs with Lakers... DA might be on way!!

Read that the Lakers were looking to sign either Mckie or DA. Then it's been strong speculation that Mckie has agreed to terms with the Lakers. That might mean DA is on his way

Darn, one of my favorite 76ers signs with my most hated team. Anyways, good news for us, I guess. With Mckie signing with the Lakers, they won't be able to offer Andersen as much I think, or that they won't be needing him since they have Mckie. That definitely boosts our chances of signing Andersen then. Basically, its down to him and Sprewell.

Wow, i just saw that. Kind of expected it though, we were his number 1 choice. DA should add a lot to our team and i definetly put us over the mavs now.

    YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!

We were over Mavs last year. We just didnt have a healthy Juwon.

After getting Swift, THAT DEFIDENTLY PUT US OVER THE MAVS!

Then they lost Finley, so we are even more higher than them.

Now we have Anderson, so we will own them.

I am much much happier with Anderson than I would have been w/ Spree (not just sayin that). W/ Anderson we know what we are getting + he can't ruin the teams chemistry like Spreewell could have.

My first choice was Finley, then Anderson, and last Spree. Though spree could have really clicked in well, he could have also ruined our whole team.

Anderson is a year younger than Finley, but Finley has 2" over him, and can play SF. Finley's 3s are the best out of the 3. Anderson dones't need as many touches as Finley (which isn't that much less). That is a good thing for us though. More touches for Yao/T-Mac.

    Now we have Depth...

Anderson has made choice, agent saysAssociated Press
    National Basketball Association News Wire

HOUSTON -- Free agent Derek Anderson plans to sign a two-year contract with the Houston Rockets, his agent said Sunday.

Tony Dutt, Anderson's agent, said he informed the Rockets of Anderson's plans, and he expects Anderson to join the team this week.

Anderson was released by the Portland Trail Blazers as part of the NBA's amnesty program. He met last week with Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy. Dutt said that was a pivotal meeting.

"I think he loved the fact of the team concept, and he's gonna earn every minute that he plays," Dutt told Houston television station KRIV.

Dutt told the Houston Chronicle that Anderson agreed to a two-year deal, the second of which would be at his option.

The Rockets could only offer $1.67 million because of the salary cap.

Dutt said the decision wasn't about money, but about the right opportunity. </div>

D.A. definetly plugs up that size issue at guard that the mavericks exploited over and over in the playoffs, and not to mention a very good shooter out there for Yao and Swift to kick the ball to. Solid starter and another good piece to the puzzle.

I'm guessing this puts Sprewell out of the Rockets plans, which in my opinion, despite all the hating, would have been the best fit. Of the 3 swingmen that were out there i had Spree at the top of the list(again just my opinion). would have loved to seen a james, mcgrady, sprewell, swift, yao lineup running the floor.

Didn't I mention yesterday that mark berman is the man......but DA is a great addition, I honestly think that this rocket's team can make a run for the title this year....and I'm not just saying that.

Great news. We provide some depth at the shooting guard and small forward rotation with the addition of Andersen- allowing everyone a bit more rest and a bit more charged up for the playoffs. That is, if Andersen stays healthy. With him, we add some speed and some energy to the lineup to try to contend with the fast guards of the west as well as some scoring. Good pickup.

They didn't exploit the size too much, just the speed. With Harris, Terry, and Armstrong all gunning at point guard over Sura and James, yeah- they basically out ran us up and down the court. And actually, Wesley did fairly well against Stackhouse, besides, we had Barry so there really wasn't any size mismatch there.

    Threads merged.

I like this addition of Anderson. We get another shooter, and with his 6-5 frame, Anderson dispels the criticism that the Rockets were getting for being undersized in the backcourt. Anderson also gives us a suitable backup for McGrady, and we could probably see TMac's minutes go down to around 38 per this season, which would play a big role in having him healthy and ready to go in the playoffs.

I'm very satisfied with what the Rockets have been able to get this offseason. We added a combo guard for the future, a young albeit lazy power forward who could form a great tandem with Howard, and now Anderson who will give us more depth in the backcourt. I can't wait for the season to begin.

I wouldn't call DA a good "shooter"... his career shooting % is horrible for a "shooting" guard and he hasn't shot over 40% for the season since 02-03. He'll be good for his size and defensive abilities, but he's more of a slasher... I think Wesley will still start at SG and depending on matchups DA might start over him.

He's a good shooter, he just has a bad shot selection. However, with JVG, he will be forced to play more disciplined or get stuck in the dog house. This is a great pickup for the Rockets and a bargain at only $1.7Million. This also allows the Rockets to trade Wesley and his expiring contract when the deadline rolls around.

Anderson is a good perimeter and mid range shooter. It's just that he has too much of a scorer's mentality and forces up shots pretty often. I don't believe that he'd have much freedom to do that, so we should be seeing DA's FG percentage on the rise.

Shape, I'm not so sure about trading away Wesley. Although I realize that expiring contracts are very valuable on the trade market, I don't know if Wesley is someone we could afford to lose. He is our best perimeter defender and now that we have a duo of Anderson and Wesley, teams would find it harder to exploit our lack of size at shooting guard. Norris and Baker both have expiring contracts too, and it'd be more sensible to trade them.

How do you guys see Jon Barry figuring into the rotation now that Anderson and Wesley would probably take up at least 45 minutes a game?

You gotta be kidding me. Stack and Finley had field days posting Wesley. Mcgrady had to switch over when they got hot and hold them down. And putting Barry on either two wasn't not even close to the answer.

And remember none of the mav guards could keep up with James when he went off, except Armstrong with his ability to stay in front of him.

I know nobody respects or cares about it, but hoopsworld said spreewel has also chosen the rockets and anderson will sign a deal. We might do some trade with the wolves to aquire him. That would be pretty pointless, but it could help.

Trip, i was thinking about that too, what are we going to do with barry. I guess if DA spends a good 10-15 minutes at the 3, then barry might get 10 minutes at the 2. Maybe he will be out of the rotation now, and just come in during special situations.
