Dahntay Jones was chosen by the Grizzlies in last years draft and hardly got any playing time with the Hubie Brown substitution patterns. I saw him play in the re-run on NBA TV of the Vince Carter Charity All Star Game and he was a great dunker, and a great passer. Whats the word on him, is he going to break into Hubie's substitution patterns or is his talent going to rot on the bench? He's probably the sleeper of last year's draft if he gets to show what he can do. Dahntay is good but is he good enough to get time on the squad? Is he a PG or SG because I saw that he could pass but he was pretty big too so im wondering. Do you guys think he deserves to be in the lineup, will he be good? Post away.
He's a swingman, and i loved him when he played at Duke. I'm hoping he breaks Hubie's rotation, but unless a trade goes down sending some 2's and/or 3's away, i doubt he has a significant role in any rotation. Very good defender, very athletic, but his jump shot is questionable. He was ready to contribute after his 4 years of college, but the depth Memphis has kept him from getting good time.
Here is our current swingman rotation: SG - Mike Miller/Bonzi Wells/Andre Emmett SF - James Posey/Shane Battier/Brian Cardinal/Dahntay Jones I don't think he'll get any playing time soon, barring a trade. However, he can be a solid contributer if we need him to be. He didn't get much playing time last year, but he still did good with what he was given. It's just not worth it to talk about him getting playing time as a Grizzlie though, because it's not happening this season.
Arent there rumors of Posey and Williams being traded for Eddie Jones? If that went through he would be a significant player on the team right? If you want to see the rumor go to Edit

Second of all, I've never heard that rumor in my life, and if there is an article about it then it's just trying to stir up hype during the offseason. Lastly, that would be the dumbest trade we could ever make. Why trade our best player and our starting point guard who are both entering their primes for an overpaid vet on the decline?
Hahaha. No doubt. The thing is, all he (Jones, remember?) can do on an NBA level are play defence and dunk. I think he'll be good in years to come, but the Grizz are pretty stacked at his position. He can just take this time and learn how to shoot.
