It usually happens to a star in his career, usually in his early years, but I guess it's different for Vince.
The problem is, I don't think it IS a one time thing. I mean, he just played bad basketball. At age 30, after so many years in the league, you can't say he just had back luck and couldn't find the basket in the ENTIRE playoffs, because that's not an excuse. I mean, he cracked under the pressure in Toronto and struggled with his shooting in all 12 games. OK, for a guy like Nachbar, who that team doesn't depend on THAT much, it could be a one time thing that can be forgotten. But Carter is supposed to be the "superstar" on this team, and that means that the team depends on him to score. When he is unable to do that, he's pretty much worthless, right? I have nothing against VC rejoining the Nets, but not for 20 million dollars a year...come on, he's not worth that much. The way he played last season, he worth (AT THE MOST) 13 million dollars a year. Players who can be forgiven for TWELVE sub-par playoff games are: a)Guys who are at the most 3 years in the league. b)Role players who the team doesn't depend on to score and carry the team. Sorry, I just can't forgive VC for his terrible playoffs and I don't think we should give him that much money to stay.
He also played horribly against Miami for two straight post season match ups. In his defense, Shaq always beats us, but for a guy that is going to be a franchise player for us, that shouldn't happen.
