Well the Spurs beat the Kings in game 6 last night so its the Mavericks and Spurs in the 2nd round. Discuss.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Texas tussle: Mavs vs. SpursSan Antonio eliminates Sacramento, 105-8302:01 AM CDT on Saturday, May 6, 2006By GERRY FRALEY / The Dallas Morning News SACRAMENTO, Calif. ? The Mavericks get a fringe benefit to their anticipated matchup with San Antonio in the second round of the NBA playoffs. The Spurs will be weary when the series opens. San Antonio, led by explosive point guard Tony Parker, finished off a first-round series against Sacramento on Friday night with a 105-83 victory at Arco Arena. The teams with the best records in the Western Conference during the regular season will open their series Sunday at San Antonio. "It's going to be like the conference finals," Spurs guard Manu Ginobli said. The Spurs will have precious little preparation time. The opener with the Mavericks will be San Antonio's second playoff game in less than 48 hours. For relaxation, the Spurs were scheduled to take a flight home of about 1,500 miles this morning. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich called the league-mandated playoff schedule "awful" and did not stop there. "We're going to play them in about 20 minutes," Popovich said. "We're going to try and do a litle scouting. We just hope the game doesn't start at 8 a.m." The Mavericks have been off since Monday, leading Popovich to suggest that coach Avery Johnson "is probably in Jamaica." Popovich said any extreme is harmful at this time of the season. "Dallas has probably been off longer than Avery wants them to be," Popovich said. "We will be more tired than we want to be." The Spurs trailed, 31-26, midway through the second quarter when Parker returned from a break to take control of the game. In the next 19 minutes, San Antonio pulled away with a 52-31 burst that ended on Parker's 3-point shot at the buzzer in the third. Parker had 19 points and three assists in that dynamic stretch. The numbers do not fully show how Parker calmed the Spurs and brought ball movement back into the offense. "Tony was really special," Popovich said. "We had to have people play the way Tony did to get the job done." Parker made 11 of 20 shots and had a team-high 31 points. His daring drives confounded the Kings' defense and got him to the free throw line nine times. Not bad for someone whose status was in doubt because of a bruised right quadricep. Parker walked gingerly after the game, but a teammate kiddingly suggested he was being overly dramatic. "He was attempting to overtake Eva as the best actor in the family," Tim Duncan said with a sly grin. Duncan referred to Parker's girlfriend, actress Eva Longoria. She will be part of the three-ring circus that opens Sunday, if the Spurs can open their eyes.</div> Link
I think the Mavericks could get the first game and maybe the secound. They have had a nice rest and should come out strong.
I think they NEED to at least win that first game, and give them the home court edge. It'll be their best oppurtunity, and they need and should take advantage of the Spurs turnaround.I think the series goes at least 6-7 games...with home court not that much of a problem for either team.I think this is the Mavs year to get by SA though...and on to the Next round, and ultimately the Finals.
The mavs finally have Howard and Harris healthy. They will go off on the spurs just like they did in the first game this year against the spurs. Mavs win this series in 6.
this is going to be an interesting series. i think the mavs can pull it off tho. i want them to win too because i am sick of tim duncan and his bank shots being in the nba finals. he is and his team is so BORING. i have mavs in 6.
San Antonio isn't looking as they did in the regular season. The Mavs just schooled the Grizzlies. The Mavs are on fire this series will be over in 6.
Spurs in 7. I think it will be an alternating win thing. (Spurs win game 1, Mavs win game 2, Spurs win gm. 3, and Mavs win Gm. 4 and so on)
I think this will be a great series. The matchup I'm looking for is Tim Duncan vs Dirk, I think whoever wins that matchup will win the series. I have the Spurs winning in a grueling 7 games. I will be watching this series closely
I have the Spurs winning in six or seven games, with seven being the more realistic scenario.Dallas has a great shot at winning Game 1 though, and if they can do that all the pressure will be on SA. The Mavericks have had a lot of time to rest, so they should be fresh and ready to go.

Hmm, I dont know about this one, Spurs a great this year again, but Mavs have really improved from years past and they have transformed into a scrappy defensive team. This one's going all the way up to 7, imo. Mavs in 7.

What a game 1. I like to see hardfought games like this. Stackhouse played a great game with the exception of his decision to shoot a prayer at the end. Duncan came up big and was the main reason SA won. A great game 1 I look forward to what's to come in a series with high expectations. Spurs have gotten things together.
that was some stupid sh*t stackhouse did at the end. that faggot ginobli was defending him and he should have tried to pass the ball instead of going back to the three point line and forcing that shot

Ginobli got fouled in the fast-break lay up he missed also,if you haven't noticed the refs have been super incosistent.
