"Not unlike his Dallas Stars teammates, Andrew Raycroft looked a lot better Saturday night.

But, like his teammates, it just wasn't enough.

Raycroft, who had allowed nine goals on 21 shots in his two previous starts, had 33 saves, but the Stars still lost a 5-2 game to the Vancouver Canucks.

The loss is the fourth in the row for the Stars and the seventh straight on the road.

The Stars are one shy of tying a franchise record for consecutive road losses and have almost completely undone the eight-game road winning streak they rolled up a few weeks ago.

Dallas is 2-9-1 over its past 12 games and has fallen to 31-22-6 (68 points). The Stars are five points behind Phoenix for the Pacific Division lead.

The Stars continued to play without five key regulars -- Brad Richards, Jamie Benn, Adam Burish, Nicklas Grossman and Krys Barch -- and had defensemen Mark Fistric, Jeff Woywitka and Trevor Daley miss shifts during a physical game. However, Vancouver was playing without five of its defensemen, who were out because of injuries.

"Teams have injuries, you have to be able to play around them," Stars captain Brenden Morrow said. "We can't just sit and say that we'll wait for players to come back. We have to play hard and we have to get some points."

Raycroft looked like he might have a tough night, as Daniel Sedin jumped off a faceoff and fought through a Stephane Robidas check to get a puck and then release an odd shot on goal from the goal line. The puck somehow squirted through Raycroft and into the net at the 2:46 mark and put the Stars behind."
