<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Golden State Warriors had designs on O'Neal, too, using Erick Dampier as sign-and-trade bait. Like the Mavericks, Golden State failed. In Cleveland, the Cavaliers were jilted by Carlos Boozer, which left them in a lurch. So the Mavericks will turn their attention to the Warriors and Cavs in their attempts to angle for a center. Golden State appears willing to sign and trade Dampier. The Cavaliers are listening to offers for Zydrunas Ilgauskas. The Mavericks will use Antoine Walker as the main offering for either. </div> http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...slede.76e1.html (need to register to view article) No way in hell I want Walker.
I don't think anyone in the Warriors organization would take Walker without grabbing another player along with him. A benefit to Walker only has a 1 year contract, but playing him would hinder the growth of a lot of our younger players, and thus there's no use in renting him for a year.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Warriorfansnc93:</div><div class="quote_post">I would take Najera </div>Talk about a high energy player with a defensive mentality. I would absolutely love to have him. He does not mind coming off the bench and he is a gutsy player. He reminds me a lot of Mark Madsen. I don't know what the deal is with his contract but he is definately a guy I would love to have in a Warriors uniform.
I'd only want Walker if it was part of a lager deal that landed the Warriors one of the Mavs' young guys. I suppose I'd take either one of these deals: 1. Walker, Laettner, Delk, and Podkolzine for Damp and NVE 2. Walker, Laettner, and either Harris or Howard for Damp, NVE, and a future #1 (with heavy restrictions). I would waive Laettner immediately and tell Walker that he would be on a very short leash. While I've never really liked Walker, I do think his ego will be kept in check because he'll be playing for his next contract and he's coming off a year that saw his stock plummet. Acquiring Walker is definately a risk, but its only for a year and I'd do it for the risk free chance to get Podkolzine.
The Zman for Dampier + filler? Might be all right if he stays healthy. In fact I actually like it. Zman just better show some hustle and not be so lazy on defense. What about getting Dasagna Diop. I would like him even more. The guy's athleticism is like a baby Shaq. 300 lbs and he runs like a power forward.
I would not mind taking a chance on Diop. And as far as Najera goes, he is virtually untouchable. Nelson and Cuban love the guy. He is kinda like Dunleavy to Mullin.
^ They gave him so few minutes especially in the playoffs, that you wonder if they still would consider parting with him. I mean heck, they loved Avery Johnson and they shipped him out to us. It's possible we could pry him away; he's more like a Custodian than a Dunleavy anyway.
I've spoken highly about Najera as that scrappy player that would be a fan favorite if traded here. But he's kind of injury prone. If we do a trade with Dallas I think it would have to include either that 7'5 dude or the 6'3 point guard. The 7'5 dude sounds intriguing, but I think Devin Harris(the 6'3 point guard) would also be nice to have.
Between the 7'5 dude or Diop would you rather take? I'd take Diop. Get that kid to develop some post moves and you got baby Shaq. He's strong, fast, he blocks, but he's raw. No footwork at all. He's got a nice midranger though.
Remember, its very likely the Warriors could get Diop next offseason. He's been a disappointment in Cleveland and really looks like he could use a change of scenary. Actually, wouldn't mind getting Diop at all. He's another one of those guys who would be a low risk/high reward guy.

He's raw but he'll get there I think he just needs to work on playing with footwork, developing some moves and positioning. A lot of the times I see him he reminds me a lot of like how Foyle tries to make basket. He's got a little hook (i think) and he's got that midrange game, but no post game, no drop step move or shoulder fake or pivot move like that guy Zach Randolph of the Blazers.

He's not ready for big minutes right now, so there's no real harm in waiting until next off season when he becomes a RFA. It will be interesting to see what kind of deals Diop and Kwame Brown get next year. I'd definately take either one. Brown should be ready for big minutes in a year or two and Diop is probably a year or two behind Brown. Wow...I just realized we've sort of meandered WAY off topic...uhhh...yeah...sooooo, Dallas still has an eye for Damp...yeah, I wouldn't mind getting Podkolzine in a trade. I'm a little concerned about the tear in his meniscus, but if he's supposed to be back in a week, then I guess it isn't a big deal.
Plus aside from that minor injury, Isn't Pod still taking that anti growth hormone drug? Dang that guy should get that pituitary gland taken out or something.
He had surgery last year to take care of it, he may still be on medication, but the league only labeled him as a mild to moderate medical risk.
