I now believe Dallas will trade out of the first round and pick up Chris Perry out of Michigan in the second. Denver will try to take Steven Jackson to replace Portis and Perry is a second round choice at best. Tampa Bay is interested in Jackson, and picks before Denver also, so some phone calls will be made early on and wheeling and dealing will be prevalent all day. Everyone I see and talk to says this draft isn't as deep in talent as previous drafts so teams will be trying to trade down and get extra picks. We have so many needs at this time that it just makes sense in a mediocre draft to have more shots at finding real talent than just one or two. After the first twenty five or thirty its just an educated guess whether a guy will pan out or not anyway. Like Cowboy71 said in a reply to an earlier post, we are not looking for that final piece or two to win a championship, we are trying to build a team for the future. We must draft young talent with an eye to the future and not be like washington and other teams who play the salary cap like a fiddle only to realize later that the fiddle they were playing was the same one Nero played as Rome burned down around him. No running back worth a first round choice is going to be available when we pick at 22 and the only way we trade down to get Jackson is if Jerry makes a deal with Tampa and it involves taking Larry Allen off his hands as part of the deal. Then we swap with Tampa and get Jackson, not to mention screwing Denver who will be ringing Tampas phone off the hook the whole while. Like I said we need help at to many positions to focus on one, but Jackson is the best back and if available then we need to take him. I dont think it will happen that way but we could still get Perry in the second and he would be a good back and wont cost to much against the cap. This draft appears to be full of useable talent but very few impact players. Parcells is in his element! Your thoughts? Later guys

I know this is off topic, but I wanted to get your attention.

Rogerthedodger, there's a sign up list in the "Fantasy Football" forum for this season's fantasy football league. We'd like to have you join the league.

I have been thinking this too. We may not even have to trade out of the first round. I wouldn't be surprised to see us picking in the last 5 picks of the first round. I think there will be a quality player at #22 that some will have to have, and we may only slide back 5-10 picks. We'll find out tomorrow.

It's funny you say that. I see this draft as one of the deepest. Obviously there is a shortage of top notch O-line, D-line, and Running backs, but there are a lot of great CB's, S's, WR's, and also a serviceable amount of LB's, QB's and Tight ends. I've been under the impression that teams are trading down to get more picks because of the overall talent available. Perspective is everything I suppose.

Yea, perspective is everything. Ol and RB, as you say, are two of the most limited areas and are two of our biggest needs. Come on 11.00 CST. Well we probably wont pick until about 4.00 CST but I will enjoy seeing what happens in the meantime, alot of fireworks i bet!
