Again, the Bucks record is shitty but they just held their own against the Cavs in back to back games and it's early in the season. I think the Bucks will round into form and make the playoffs. For Dame's sake I wish they'd do more than just show up in the playoffs but that's likely all it will be.
Very gettable especially since the Bucks last two games were losses against that first place team that took them from 4.5 games back to 6.5 games back but I think the Bucks will likely end up a 5-8 seed in the East.
Yes, why not? The Bucks are going to have a hard time getting better through the draft, so might as well stink right now. The Unprotected picks and swap owed to the Pelicans are from the Jrue Holiday trade. Then he is gone, and they owe more to the Blazers for getting Dame. N0 1st round pick - 2025 1-4 goes to New Orleans. 5-30 goes to Brooklyn Nets (Blazers had this Nets portion briefly) Swap - 2026 Pelicans can swap the pick No 1st round pick - 2027 Pelicans own Buck's pick outright Swap - 2028 Blazers can swap No 1st round pick - 2029 Pick owned by Blazers, could go to Wizards too Swap - 2030 Blazers can swap picks Jrue Holiday was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks from the New Orleans Pelicans on November 16, 2020. The trade included: Eric Bledsoe, George Hill, Draft-pick compensation, Three future first-round picks, and Pick swaps. The Bucks gave up future assets in the deal, including: 2020 1st (via IND), 2024 right to swap 2025 1st unprotected, and 2026 right to swap 2027 1st unprotected. Holiday played for the Bucks from 2020 until he was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in a three-way deal in September 2023. The Trail Blazers then traded Holiday to the Boston Celtics four days later.
I would take the kind of hell they look to be facing just to have ownership/management that takes the big swings that won that team and their fans a championship just four and a half years ago. They took another big swing with Dame and it doesn't seem like it's going to work out but at least they went for it. We wouldn't commit to winning it all the entire time Dame was here after LaMarcus left and we're not even taking a big swing at a legit rebuild now that Dame is gone. Even if our team had tried to position us for a title run this season and were struggling like the Bucks are right now, I would be happier than I am right now with whatever the fuck our front office is doing. I'd just be happy that our team was scratching and clawing and doing everything they could to get us another title.
Oh for sure. I'd think they will want New Orleans or us to be one of the teams in the deal to get some of their picks back. The Deni trade makes that a bit harder as we can't simply send them their own pick back. I just doubt they even consider trading Giannis until at least the summer at the earliest and most like 2 years from now.
Listening to the Duncd on prime podcast with Hollinger they were pretty happy with Dame performance. Biggest problems for the Bucks are 1 Getting zero production from SG as Gary Trent Jr has been horrific 2 Giannis defense and rim protection has had a big dropoff from prior years. The rest of the roster defensive issues were going to need Giannis D to be elite this year 3 Bobby Portis has declined 4 Offense has been less efficient than expected from role players 5 Very unathletic roster
They’re over the second apron. I’m not sure how the rules apply but aren’t they prevented from aggregating all salary?
Yes, but it could technically be 3 separate transactions. Grant and Middleton, thybulle and Portis, and reath and Johnson.
It's not aggregating salaries... Each of the Bucks player gets paid more than the corresponding Blazer. Middleton > Grant Portis > Thybulle Johnson > Reath
