LILLARD DOESN'T CARE ABOUT WHO OUR NEXT COACH IS! IT MEANS EITHER HE'S UNCOACHABLE OR WANTS TO BE TRADED!

(I hope I'm doing that right.)

If Dame were to do so, it would seem to be outside of his character.

Wait: A sports tweet that isn't intended to stir shit up? Am I dreaming?

If you read the subtle subliminal message that's buried in "not making demands of any kind," you can see Dame declaring, "I am King."

Dame is clearly saying he won't be with the team next season, so what does he care? There is simply no other way to interpret that statement.

with this being said, I do think it’s a good idea for Dame to put pressure on Olshey to actually go for it. No more margin moves. And if that means trading his backcourt buddy, so be it.

Btw add Amick to the list of journalists saying Portland is seriously considering Billups.

Here is Amick's blurb on Dame, etc

On Dame Time and Portland’s ticking clock
Never underestimate the social-media savviness of today’s NBA star. These public platforms have been at their disposal for more than a decade now, meaning the best players in today’s game have had plenty of time to figure out how they want to share their online truth.

So when Lillard wasted no time in posting to Instagram after Portland’s season-ending loss to Denver in Game 6 of their first-round series, quoting the late rapper, Nipsey Hussle, on the topic of dedication, you didn’t have to be a web sleuth to draw some big-picture meaning from his message. After the latest playoff disappointment, one that Lillard admitted would likely spark change considering they’d lost to a Nuggets team that was down so many key players, he was clearly contemplating the path of his professional future. Be it in Portland or elsewhere.

Then came the coaching change that we’d reported in early May was so likely, with Terry Stotts being shown the door after nine seasons. And now, as reported by our Jason Quick and Shams Charania on Friday, it appears there has been a predictable uptick in hope among rival executives who would love nothing more than for Lillard to ask for a trade. As a reminder, Lillard is signed through 2025 at supermax money but can opt out in the summer of 2024.

But here’s where things get complicated for Blazers chairwoman Jody Allen and general manager Neil Olshey. As if the roster deficiencies won’t be tough enough to address, the quickest way to add even more pressure to this situation is by hiring a coach who isn’t seen as a home-run hire by the franchise centerpiece (“half-court-shot hire” just doesn’t roll off the tongue).

Only Lillard knows for sure how he sees these next few months and the possible ripple effect from there. And it gets even harder to handicap how this will end up when you factor in the nuance of the situation.

Lillard told Yahoo! Sports’ Chris Haynes he hoped Lakers assistant Jason Kidd would be the next coach, only to see Kidd pull his name out on Sunday (via ESPN). Lillard also told Quick that he liked Kidd and Billups.

Still, Lillard’s preference for someone with head coaching experience (again, via Quick and Shams) has to make you wonder if going against that line of thinking by picking a rookie coach like Billups would be politically problematic. Nonetheless, the Blazers front office — which is expected to conduct a search that will likely involve other candidates — is known to be very intrigued by the Billups option.

A source with knowledge of the situation said Lillard is not making demands of any kind when it comes to the coaching hire. The front office and ownership will do their jobs while communicating with him along the way. And once that coaching selection is made, this question comes next: What else can Olshey do with the roster to take this Blazers team from perennial playoff contenders to Western Conference heavyweight?

Lillard’s Portland future may depend on him finally figuring out that title-contending formula. Here’s my educated opinion: I don’t anticipate any blockbuster news on this front before the start of next season, but this noise will only grow louder from there if there isn’t tangible evidence that the moves made — coaching and roster — are actually working.

OLSHITY wants Billups, and Dame doesn’t hate the idea.

Vanterpool is a name Dame likes also

discussion within the organization is prior head coaching experience vs no prior and a staff full of former head coaches

according to someone that would know such things
