sure, dame was spectacular, hit some crazy half court shots, scored 11 last points, but giannis was 16/16, hit three 3-pointers and no-one can say his mvp is undeserved dame deserved it too, but giannis being perfect is what got him the mvp
He banked in two out of three of his threes. Total luck. Look at his shot chart. Like.... come on man.
Voting was done before Dames end of the game display. At the beginning of the 4th when voting took place, Giannis was the mvp. They should wait to hold to vote till after. It screwed Dame out of an MVP. I dont want to hear perfect game for giannis. He missed one and it was gifted back to him. He banked in some ugly lucky threes. Most of his makes were undefended at the basket dunks that my dead grandma couldn't have missed. Did Giannis hit a half court three? No. Did Giannis score the last 11 points, including a near half court three to win it at the buzzer? No.
they were lucky shots, but they went in... i guess you could say: "giannis 3-pointers are equal to dames half court shots", cause we know dame has a long range and giannis cant shoot 3-pointers dame didnt won the mvp, but he was "the highlight" of the all-star game, he was in the spotlight
That makes no sense at all. One is a show of skill. Dame practices half court shots. That's within his range. He can do something that probably 99% of the NBA can't do. The other was complete luck. Giannis is a bad three point shooter and two of his shots were complete luck.
I thought Dame was gonna win it till I found out Giannis was 16/16. But you guys make some great points. Big men in an all star game, most of those shots are complete gimme’s.
I have no problem with Giannis winning. I thought that Giannis, Curry, Dame and CP3 all deserved consideration.
Dame had a bunch working against him. He didn't get hot until the votes were most likely already cast. Also, I suspect that if Giannis didn't win, I bet they give it to Curry. Dame was cold early and got hot late. And they made a much bigger deal about Curry hitting easier shots than what Dame hit. But still, I'd rather have Curry win than a dude who got to free dunk 13 times.
If anything, Dame's play last night was a big middle finger to the fans that voted for Luka to start. I saw a meme on the web that said something to the effect of "You didn't choose me to start the game, so I finished it."
I will put it like this: Dame dropped 32 on better than 50% shooting in a pickup game at the Y against adults. Giannis scored 35 on a bunch of dunks on a lowered hoop against a bunch of 8 year olds.
Equal? Hell no they weren't! Giannis couldn't make the shots Dame made. (Curry couldn't even truly duplicate Dames half court three, no matter how much credit they want to give him.) Giannis barely made threes at the arc. Giannis bank ins were not equal to Dames half court shots.
I’m not trying to be a dick, but who cares? Didn’t Like Mitch Richmond and Glen Rice win the award before? It doesn’t mean anything
I keep reading and hearing about this snub every outlet I go to. All Star games in all sports are frivolous. I wish Lillard wouldn’t have even partaken and rested up.
He got 8 assists, but yeah, he was pretty much a non-factor otherwise. He was selected by the fans, so Snyder didn't have much option but to play him more minutes than the backups. The thing that pissed me off was Chris Paul getting ten more minutes than Dame. What the hell? If the fan vote is supposed to be so important, how does the league explain 2,848,663 for Dame vs. 391,667 for Paul, yet 21 minutes for Dame vs. 31 for CP3? What do you suppose Dame's point total would have been had he been given those extra minutes? Think it might have made an even stronger case for winning him the MVP?
