http://www.nypost.com/sports/knicks/18183.htm For the first time, Dampier acknowledged he may have to accept the $4.9 million mid-level exception if the Knicks can't work out a deal with Golden State. The under-the-cap Hawks have made an offer of a reported $40 million over four years, a total that just barely beats out a maximum six-year, $38M mid-level offer Thomas can make. Thomas was willing to give Dampier six years and $65 million in a sign-and-trade scenario. I guess that is what you get for opting out and being greedy. Ha ha, sucker!
Wow, I guess this kinda back fired on him unless the Warriors deal him via a S&T. What was he set to make in his final year if he didn't opt out of his contract with the Warriors? btw- Warriorsfansnc93- You posted the wrong link to the article.
Sorry about that, I thought I had hit copy. Anyways, it has been edited now. Thanks for letting a brotha know. It is NY Post, so it probably is not credible anyhow.
Although Damp opted out with his agent and many teams believing he had a guarantee somewhere, his move was probably a mistake because almost no one wanted him. Everyone else who was regarded as one of the "top" FAs was signed very early, which dampened (no pun intended) his chances at getting a large/long contract. Almost every average NBA fan notices that Damp had a career year and is a bit old, and all of the GM's apparently think so too. Only teams that have a need to win "now" are taking a chance on him with a large contract via sign-and-trade, but none of the rebuilding teams have any need for a guy who's going to take money and minutes from their youngsters.

Rudeezy, he was set to make about $8 mil next year if he hadn't opted out... haha this just makes me laugh. But it's kinda sad too, because the Warriors could have kept Damp instead of Foyle (maybe even cheaper than Adonal). As much as I like Foyle, I have to admit that Damp is way better.
We couldn't have kept him though. He didn't want to be here, that is why he opted out. Its not like we just dumped him for Foyle, that would be stupid.

He probably thinks he can start brand new with a team that is competitive and needs a center. C'mon Larry Bird (Artest for Dampier). We take a risk, you take a risk.
