Note: any news that comes out today is dubious, for obvious reasons. http://www.fightline.com/news/2008/41/dana...te_320600.shtml <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>UFC president Dana White has stated, in no uncertain terms, that is no way that there will be a boxing rules match up between Roy Jones Jr. and UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. The news comes courtesy of Dave Meltzer. Silva called Jones out after defeating Dan Henderson recently at UFC 82. He is currently riding a seven fight win streak in which he faced two world champions and basically cleaned out the UFC middleweight division. Rumors have Silva possibly facing Yushin Okami, the last man to defeat him.</div> It really doesn't make sense for Dana to risk his investment. If Silva wasn't signed to a UFC contract it would be a different matter. As it is, allowing your best asset to endanger himself unnecessarily is not a smart business move. As much attention as it would've attracted to the sport, it wasn't critical. The UFC is doing well.
I don't see the UFC risking a possible 1st round TKO that will deflate the momentum the UFC and MMA has gained over the last 3 years. He'd put a boxer in the Octagon in a second but wouldn't put his best fighter in a boxing ring.
