From the Jermaine Jones files, Daniel Williams has emerged as another German-"American" prospect for the US National Team. Williams' father is an American serviceman who was based in Karlsruhe for years and Williams was born and raised there. He has yet to set foot in the States, or get a US passport, but he is eligible and just needs to visit the US Embassy in Frankfurt.

Williams is a natural defensive midfielder, but has been pressed into service at right back for SC Freiberg.

For a brief story on Williams, check Ives. If you want more reading, check out the interview on Yanks Abroad.

It appears that Williams isn't much of a threat to make the 2010 roster with Spector and Cherundolo at right back and Clark and Edu at defensive mid. He does seem to be one to watch out for in qualifying and going to Brazil in 2014.

Seems as though Williams stunk up the joint against Hertha Berlin. Williams was directly responsible for allowing a couple of the goals in Frieberg's 3-0 loss, according to Ives' twitter account. He was subbed off after 45 minutes.
