Ainge is a terrible GM IMO. He trades away an all-star to Dallas after a career year, and a playoff year at that. Walker and Pierce were a big name duo, I remember a time when ppl wanted to watch Boston. Not anymore thanks to Danny. Then he trades away a core group of forwards for some nucklehead named ricky davis who only knows how to lose. Now he trades away Marcus Banks(a solid prospect), Chucky Atkins(good backup), and Chris Mihm(one of their only forwards) for an old and unhappy GP(who can still play mind you), and an injured Rick Fox who has made his career from hitting threes off Shaq kick-outs(Matt Frieje the next Rick Fox)
what do u guys think, should Danny Quit...it seems like nobody likes what hes doing!

It's been all down hill for Walker since he left the C's. We got rid of that guy at the perfect time.<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Walker and Pierce were a big name duo,</div>Your point is?
Big names may mean something to you, but winning championship is the name of the game. Ainge didn't see THAT team winning one, nor did I. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Then he trades away a core group of forwards for some nucklehead named ricky davis who only knows how to lose</div>Irony here folks.
Calling somebody a "knucklehead", but spelling it incorrectly. But back on topic, The core group of forwards were Kedrick Brown, EWill, and Toknees Battie. One has never accomplished anything and probably never will, one has chronic knee problems that don't look to be getting better, and one decent hustle player who was on the last year of his contract. In return he recieved a great slasher/scorer, a serviceable PF who was in the rotation, an attractive contract for trade bait, and a draft pick. I think it was another good move by Danny.<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Now he trades away Marcus Banks(a solid prospect), Chucky Atkins(good backup), and Chris Mihm(one of their only forwards) for an old and unhappy GP(who can still play mind you), and an injured Rick Fox who has made his career from hitting threes off Shaq kick-outs(Matt Frieje the next Rick Fox)</div>Chris Mihm is one of their only fowards???
    Wrong....
    PF-Jefferson
    PF-Lafrentz
    PF/SF-Jones
    PF-McCarty
    PF-Brown
    PF/C-Perkins
    PF/C-Stewart
    SF-Welsch
    SF-Davis
    SF-Pierce
As far as Atkins, good backups are easy to come by. I'm not worried about that. But on Banks, I agree with you. He was a solid prospect, but you never know how he will turn out. At least you know what you are getting in Payton. He is pefect for what the Celtics are trying to do. I won't even mention Fox, because I doubt he will ever play again.<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">what do u guys think, should Danny Quit...it seems like nobody likes what hes doing!</div>I think he is doing a pretty good job, but only time will tell! It takes longer than a year to build a championship contender....give him time...and if we don't improve, trash him all you want.

You should have just left your comments at this, because this is all that really matters in this trade: Can GP still play well, if only for one year?

Smart minds say yes, especially knowing GP's pride and the results from last year providing all the incentive he'll need. We may not get the GP of Seattle days, but we'll get something in the neighborhood. GP leading the break with PP and RD to distribute to? <font color="DarkGreen"> I beleive I'm going to enjoy that. </font> [IMG]

Mihm: Every Celtics fan worth his/her salt pretty much knew he was going to be moved.

Banks: lets not celebrate this guy as another one of those "who got away". He's a hell of a long way from being any kind of impact player and may never be.

You seemed to be missing a crutial piece in the Walker trade...several actually:

    1. Walker refused to change his playing style to best suit teams needs. AW is as much responsible for his departure as anything DA did.

    2. We got alot more than just Welsh and LaFrentz out of the deal.

I don't think there is much left for me to say, my thoughts are pretty much the same as 44caliber's and hagrids's. After I got over the initial shock of the trade and looked at some articles etc. I don't think that trade was so bad. And looking back on his previous trades, in hindsight it seems like the Celtics have gotten the better end of each deal.

    Damn! Damn! Damn!

Once again my favorite team has put me through turmoil. It's bad enough I have to walk around town in Red Sox shirts because the only jersey anyone wore was #34's. At least I see the sun on the horizon now, Al Jefferson, Tony Allen, Delonte West, and Kendrick Perkins might turn out to be SOLID contributors and GP's #20 gives everyone another jersey worth buying at the pro shop...those Banks #11's are now instant throwbacks. One.

As many know I have not preached Ainge's greatness, but I see what he is doing and it may work. The Celtics will be better this year, Doc will be a great coach for the job, and the FUTURE looks bright.
