I gotta tell you... I love turning on the radio, opening the newspaper, going on the internet, and turning on the TV and hearing about this Iverson deal. The more press this thing gets, the better. Why? Because now anything short of landing Iverson will be considered a failure. It's all out there for public to see now, which puts more pressure on Danny to get the deal done. I don't think Ainge wants to look like the Red Sox when they were trying for months to complete an A-Rod trade, but ultimately couldn't get the job done. Then the Yankees came along and completed the trade without a problem. If the same thing happens here, Ainge will lose a lot of supporters and it'll definitely shorten his leash from the ownership. This is one of the major reasons why I think Iverson will definitely be a Celtic next year.
I wouldnt be surprised if youre right. I still say wait a year and see if u can pry garnett from the t-wolves. I agree that it would be great for the celtics to have AI because it would make them a must-watch team. but whats the best that could happen? they win 50 games and win a playoff series? and then what? I thoguht Ainges whole plan was to do what was best for the long run. If the celtics trade for iverson it could ultimiatly be a disaster if he and pierce cant make each other better and not worse or if his body starts to break down and then after a couple years they could be worse than where they started.

We have: - Green - Jefferson - West - Allen - Gomes - Perkins - Powe - Rondo - Telfair - Ray That's 10 guys. Worst case scenario, we send away 3 to get Iverson. So Ainge's plan of developing youth is still very much in effect. We just have more to work with and less holes to fill. Instead of counting on these guys to become all stars in order to compete for a title, they just have to become solid role players. Pierce and Iverson still have 5 good years left in them. Do you think any of the young guys I listed can become solid role players, or even better, in the next 5 years?
well obviously they wont become peirce or iverson in the next 5 years but yeah i think at least one or two of those guys HAS to become a real good player in the next few years. I mean like you said its TEN of them. We all know they all have talent so they couldnt possibly ALL dissapoint. We just have to hope that Ainge can manage to keep the ones who end up being the best. If he ends up trading West, Perk and Green for Iverson its gonna make me nervous. With telfair and Rondo and Powe were pretty much starting over. I dont think many people expect great things from rondo powe or ray and I just hope that the people who speak highly of them are correct. also IM not sure about iverson having a good 5 years left in him. playing as good as he does now? youre saying hell still be one of the best when hes 38 or close to it. that would be something to see but it seems like a stretch. and again if Peirce and Iverson cant co-exist, not jsut co-exist but make each other BETTER than theres little to no chance to win a title with the two of them
WPVI in Philly reported that the big rumor is: Sebastian Telfair Wally Szczerbiak Al Jefferson for Allen Iverson I checked the deal on RealGM and it does go through.
I think the Sixers can get more value for Iverson than Telfair, Wally, and Jefferson. I would at least request Green and a first rounder or two if I'm giving up a player like Iverson.
There's probably going to be a third team involved, so even if that is what we give up, Philly will end up with more than that.
