http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/allstar2004/...marc&id=1734344 Nice read. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">If Darko eventually develops as the personnel experts projected, he'll give Detroit a potentially fearsome front line, even by Western Conference standards. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting ThaLord:</div><div class="quote_post">Well, I'm sure Joe Dumars does </div> Why would Darko regret his decision? Do you know how much this guy is paid as the second pick? He plays 4 minutes a game in half the games played so that amounts to about 2-3 million dollars per minute. Sign me up for that please. What if the hype dissapeared (ie. Chris Porter) and he stayed in Europe? This guy would be crying to mommy to buy him a new Volvo.
Darko never saw his parents through seasons in Europe, at age 16/17 Bare that in mind This is a tough transition for him
He never proved anything in Europe...Even over there he didn't get good stats... Are those scouts that convinced that he'll be the next Dirk? Dirk proved something in his own country... Darko didn't...
no where in the article does it imply that Dumars regrets drafting Darko. i've said this many times: even if Darko only develops into an average 7' center, the Pistons have a weapon that not many teams have. good centers are scarce in the NBA. there are tons of good small forwards in the NBA. Dumars made the right decision, imo.
Darko's a mystery still. He has shown some promise and I think that it's too early now to dismiss him as a bust.

You need to realise in this era big men win championships, not exciting swingmen.

Could be... But Dirk proved he could do something... Remembered he played for his country in the World Championship... And he got good numbers... Plus, he was about the same age as Darko right now...

I'm glad Darko doesn't regret being drafted because I can definitely see why he would. He loves the game and we all know he doesn't like sitting on the bench all the time, as he recently announced to the media. He likes to learn, which is a good sign. He has never done anything to make any of you think he won't be a great player, but he has done plenty of things to make the NBA's best minds agree that he will be. I have nothing but great expectations for him.

It is a tough transition but being paid the cash he is being paid.....I would say that he doesn't have to worry about being poor on the street anymore. To be paid this amount of cash and be picked so high without proving anything is amazing to me. Good marketing job Darko.

Now only that but where his family lived was in danger of being bombed on many occasions. People just don't take into account what he has had to deal with.
Oh my bad. But does this really matter right now? Tough transition I can understand. But I think this has to do more with playing time than not seeing his family
Milicic is a smart young man who has loads of potential..he is with the right team and it will definitely pay off for Detroit...
Darko will be good but he should have waited until next year. if he did he would have gotten to play the US in the olympics and he would have known what he was in for
Darko probably is good, but like he and many other people have said. He's use to a different league, a different game. The language barrier is a real factor. I think it's very smart and mature of Dumars to keep him under wraps till he feels Darko is ready. Then again, Brown plays favorites. Either way, he's going to be big. Another shooter of a big man. Always room for those on any team, and I mean any team.
