<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"Donnie" Darko Milicic had a very disappointing year last season, despite being part of an NBA championship club. His playing time was very scarce, amounting mostly to scrapping away during garbage time. He even broke his hand during the limited time he saw during the Finals versus the Lakers. "I need 15 minutes in the first couple of games to show what I can do," Milicic said of the exhibition season. "I can't play two minutes like I did last year. Give me that, and coaches can then do what they need to do." "We know that he's the future of this organization," said Ben Wallace, "but he's got to understand that nothing is given with this team. He found out that was the case as a rookie. It doesn't change now that he's had a year to get accustomed to the NBA and living over here." </div> Full Story
Ireally believe they should let the guy get some minutes. during the course of the year. because who knows he might be vital to one of there wins next year.
Hopfully Darko gets plenty of court time in the pre-season games. I doubt he will get 10-15 minutes a game this year, there's alot of big men on the team so It will be tough to spread the minutes out but if darko has improved then he may well get some of Campbell's and most of Coleman's playing time. He has worked hard this summer since breaking his hand. He has been training non stop since august.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Need4Sheed:</div><div class="quote_post">That's Larry Brown for you, he did it w/ all the 76ers young talent through-out the years.</div> And now look at many of the young sixers, they're really starting to break out now that Brown is out and they are getting some PT. Not to diss Brown, he is an incredible coach, but a lot of great coaches need to have a bit more confidence in youth. With so much depth in the front court for Detroit, it will be touch for him to get minutes, but I hope he does. I just want to see what this kid is really capable of. I really haven't seem him, but everyone who has still swears by him, as evidenced by Wallace's comment. I just hope he doesn't get depressed from not getting any time and gives up and never lives up to his potential.
He should have gotten minutes last year, and he definitely should this year. And he's had his fair shair of splinters from grabbing too much pine. And rumor has it that he's grown an inch since he got drafted. He should be one of the first guys off the bench this year.
Even though Darko was drafted to be a project,I think its right for him to receive more playing time also. Every expert who has seen him play actual games have said he has a chance to be a great player in this leauge.Even though he was a rook project I think he should get 15 minutes +,a night. The reason why is because it seems like Darko is always working so hard, and its going to waste. This is a guy who works out with Ben Wallace regularly through out the season, and probably does more when he trains by himself,so basicaly Bens work habits have had a huge effect on Darko. He doesnt just take advantage of his situation(of knowing he isnt going to play much),and get lazy,he has actually tried to work hard to improve his game. With the Pistons having two backups in their frontcourt over 30,why not give this young kid a shot at some serious playing time?
