Capar is quoting a member of Baron’s camp as the source for the story. Baron once fought for PRIDE, losing to Takanori Gomi via rear naked choke at 7:10 of round 1 during PRIDE’s Bushido 12 in August of 2006. He also holds a win over recent UFC signing, British welterweight Dan Hardy. However, it was likely Baron’s upset win over Hayato Sakurai during a Shooto event in Japan last month that earned him a spot with the UFC. In that fight, Baron submitted Sakurai with a rear naked choke at 4:50 of round 1. There is no word as to when Baron will make his UFC debut or against whom.</div> while I don't think he's an immediate contender, he is a solid addition to the UFC's LW division who can put on some good fights. I guess if he can get a couple of wins, a rematch with Dan Hardy would be an obvious rematch for the UFC to have. here's his record.
