    Yeah......pretty interesting.

I can't recall any team firing its head coach with the best record in the conference mid-season. That there were no scandals involved makes it all the more remarkable. Either things were really bad or the Cavs are basically "all in" on trying to get a title this year.

I actually suspect it's the latter. Lebron can opt out this year if he wants to, right?

They either get their stuff together and keep him happy or they don't.

If you're a basketball franchise life's a lot easier when Lebron wears your jersey, so I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.

Mr. Windhorst, if your sources said Lebron James was not consulted in the team's decision to fire his head coach, you need some new sources.

Nice article by Wojniarowski. Thanks, K4E.

Also thanks to bullsger for the brief SVG take on the situation. Blatt isn't a "players' coach," he's a "coach's coach." The same can be said of SVG so his comments aren't surprising.

Though it pays pretty well, the job of NBA head coach is a crappy gig. You can get fired as easily from below as above even if you do a good job. Fairness has nothing to do with it and I have little sympathy. They all know how it works coming in.

This is right. A coach should know how it works. But I think this is unusual.
More people would have understand if Hoiberg would have lost his job after this first half of a season with many up and downs...

The Cavs would be 4th seed in the West. Considering the team they had and the money they spent adding to it this year, they were certainly underperforming.

They've gone from a team that held its own against the Warriors in the Finals, in spite of injuries to key players, to a team that looks like it will be blown out if there's a replay of the same series.
