The talk of the week at the Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open has been the thick, tangled Bermuda rough guarding the narrow fairways of the TPC Sawgrass Dye's Valley Course. One player after another has come off the course moaning about the devilish lies produced when hitting into the rough. Balls often have sunk to the bottom, completely obscured. However, it didn't seem to bother 36-year-old David Mathis in Friday's second round. The Winston-Salem, N.C., native hit only six fairways, yet found a way to reach the putting surface in regulation all but once. In the process, he set the course record under a par-70 setup and took a two-shot lead at the halfway point of the Nationwide Tour's final full-field event. http://jacksonville.com/sports/golf...d-mathis-leading-winn-dixie-jacksonville-open
