NFL Network's Adam Shefter reports WR David Patten could be a June first cut.Signed to a five-year deal by Washington only a season ago, the former Patriot is a fourth receiver at best nowI'd bring him back to the Patriots in a second.

We should cut him, I feel like he and Thrash play the same role on our team, and Thrash is the healthier of the two. We need a guy like him on the team--a dependable experienced veteran at WR, but Thrash is heathier more I feel and he also is a great help on special teams.

Why can't we just trade him instead?

Who would give up anything for an overpaid, underperforming wideout?

David Patten would be the #4 Reciever on the Jets...the guy isnt very good. He was a #4 on the Patriots for a reason and for some unknown reason Snyder felt like paying him starting WR money. The idea that anybody would give up anything for him is laughable because hes a dime a dozen player and hes making way too much money to do that.

No he wasn't. Troy Brown, Deion Branch, and David Givens started over him from 02-04.

Branch and Givens were "no-body's" back then

Patten was older though...but anywaysI hope he leaves. Thrash is pretty good. And we'll have room for others.

I said in LIKE 2003... I guess I meant to say 2002, that's when the won the SB, not 2003.And Patten had a great year, while no one knew who Givens was and Branch was a solid slot WR.

The Patriots went 9-7 and didnt make the playoffs. The New York Jets won the division that year (via a 3 way tiebreaker). The Pats won it all in 2001, 2003, and 2004.

    Patten's years as a Patriot:2001 - 51 catches and 749 yards2002 - 61 catches and 824 yards2003 - 9 catches and 140 yards (played a total of 6 games)2004 - 44 catches and 800 yards Not bad for someone who isn't a quality starting reciever.

The only reason we cut him in the first place was because he wanted a lot of money and we had David Givens and Troy Brown to split the # 2 and 3 WR's spots.
