French-Canadian MMA veteran David "The Crow" Loiseau (18-8) might be headed back to the UFC, according to MMANews.com. UFC matchmaker extraordinaire Joe Silva is supposedly interested in bringing Loiseau back into the fold for the first time since late 2006. Loiseau began his career in the UCC, now TKO, amassing an 8-2 record win wins over Tony Fryklund, Joe Doerksen, and Shawn Tompkins. He debuted in the UFC in 2003 with a knockout win over Mark Weir but followed that performance with a decision loss to Jorge Rivera. Loiseau then went back to the UCC where he lost to Jeremy Horn by submission but had two victories after that. He was brought back to the UFC in early 2005 to fight Gideon Ray, who he defeated by TKO (cuts). Loiseau then won his next two fights, famously crushing Charles McCarthy's abdomen with a spinning back kick, then surviving a brutal fight with the late Evan Tanner and winning on cuts. Loiseau had a title shot at UFC 58: USA vs. Canada, but lost a hard fought decision against then champion Rich Franklin. Loiseau then had an underwhelming performance against Mike "Quick" Swick and was out of a job with the UFC for a second time. Since leaving the UFC Loiseau is 4-2, with one of his losses via a highly controversial split decision against Jason "Dooms" Day. In his last fight Loiseau scored a fifth-round TKO against former Ultimate Fighter competitor Solomon Hutcherson. Since leaving the UFC Loiseau has been seen cornering friend and training partner Georges St. Pierre. Loiseau is a skilled middleweight with dangerous elbows but he has shown a lack of heart. I think there is a very good chance he is matched up again with Jason Day if he is brought back into the fold.
I've been a fan of "The Crow" but I do question his mental strength. I sometimes wonder if he was jealous of the fame GSP got, but he never said anything about it. would be good to see him back in the UFC though.
I think he should get back in the UFC, he has a lot of power and good elbows, and kicks, an entertaining fighter that I think can compete with UFC middleweights. I watched his fight against Doomsday and felt he won the decision.
