Paul (Chicago): Did you envision b/f the season started that D. Rose would adjust to the NBA game so quickly and smoothly? I have Rose as the second best PG in the East only behind Devin Harris. Lastly, will Rose be an All-Star this season barring injury? Thanks... David Thorpe: I didn't expect him to be the focus of the offense, since Kirk was supposedly really ready. And Rose is definitely behind Rondo too. And Caldreron. Jason (NYC): What's your take on the Larry Hughes this year? Is he just on a hot streak or has he significantly improved his jumper? David Thorpe: Hot streak, and no conscience. Rob (Chicago): Has Larry Hughes always been such a selfish player? How can you coach a player who insists on taking shots "outside the offensive." More times than not, after he gets a defensive rebound, he dribbles into the front court and launches a bad shot. I just can't take it anymore. David Thorpe: Yes, it's very difficult to watch. Paul (Chicago): D-Man please teach Ben Gordon how to dribble a basketball without always turning it over!!!!!!! He makes me cringe everytime he starts dribbling the ball..... David Thorpe: I prefer his dribbling to his passing. http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/chatESPN?event_id=24052
It's disgusting how much he is hating on Larry Hughes. Hughes has really been hard to watch this year, right David? That game winner was tough on my eyes. Same with that dagger against the Knicks, and that great shooting against the Wizards...and his good defense. Very hard to watch! And Ben Gordon's dribbling over his passing? Gordon is a very fine passer, who is averaging 4 APG this year, whose passing stats have been defalted because of playing with inept scorers, such as two of Thorpe's clients, Luol Deng and Tyrus Thomas. David Thorpe is a basketball mental midget. There is no way to get around it, Tyrus Thomas and Luol Deng get worse as basketball players the more they work with David Thorpe.
I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you and agree with Thorpe on pretty much everything. But I don't want to stop you. Starting with Hughes for Okafor, and continuing with Thabo bulking up to play power forward, right through this rant, you're on a very special roll. I can't wait to see where it leads.
