Apparently David Wesley and his bold head are going to get signed by the Cavs. I don't know why but I don't like this move although Wesley is a solid vet/defender. I'll try to find the source or if someone else finds it please post it...
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Cavaliers general manager Danny Ferry has been on the prowl for a veteran guard. Sources say the Cavaliers are close to signing veteran David Wesley. Wesley, who will be 36 on Nov. 14, could be signed with part of the Cavaliers' mid-level exception or possibly the bi-annual exception ($1.8 million). He played 71 games last year for Houston, including 59 starts. He averaged 9.9 points, 2.9 assists and 2.5 rebounds.</div> Source Just saw this a second ago.
They get a veteran shooter off the bench, and his biggest problem is that he is undersized. Other than, that I don't see why this is bad. Houston fans keep saying that they need another good shooter, so why not Wesley. I don't think Houston will find a better shooter this year in the free agency. He might also play a little bit of point.
Well Cavs have a lot of guards on their roster now. I guess this might mean they are pushing to trade Hughes and/or Damon Jones. The negative thing about Wesley is that he is undersized for a shooter.
Well what are the chances of picking him up if the Cavs are going to sign banks? Hopefully they'll sign Banks and leave Wesley alone.
I don't understand why Cleveland does this....a couple of years ago this would've been a decent pick up, but David is over the hill now.
