<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It wasn't the first and probably won't be the last time that Doc Rivers has kicked a player out of practice for bad behavior, but yesterday Ricky Davis pushed the envelope a little too far with the Celtics coach.

The Celtics' sixth man, upset with how a scrimmage was being officiated by the coaches during yesterday's practice in front of a group of New England Baptist-sponsored high school students, started complaining a little too loudly and colorfully for Rivers' taste</div>

Seems like RD got a little too animated at the wrong time. Let's hope it's not more than that.

I believe ricky davis has been playing wanders for the celtics and i would hate to see all his hardwork go down the drain. i hope he gets his act together.

    The real question is....

Would we even be hearing about this if the Celtics didn't have 4 days off?

While it's disapointing to hear, I have a hard time caring about it knowing that the writers are digging for anything possible to write about.

Yep, we would. We heard about RD and Blount being tossed last season too. This would have come out regardless. It probably wouldn't have been the lead story though.

However, like most stuff of this nature, this will likely turn out to be a non-issue.

Agreed. We're always going to hear about it if a player gets tossed from practice, but the fact that it's Davis makes it a bigger story than it really is.

To me it seems like Doc's biggest problem was with Davis using foul language in front of those students. I don't think arguing calls in practice in necessarily a bad thing, it shows how competitive he is. I read once about how Jordan used to do it all the time.

Agreed, Thrilla. As an NBA player he should try to be a role model, at least by watching his language and behavior in front of high school students.

    You got it.

I'm wondering...Did any reporter ask Doc if he would have done the same thing if those students weren't present?

I'm just curious, if anybody knows please fill us in.

Oh Thrilla, that would require doing actual reporting. Can't have that.
My guess is he would have done the same thing because it sounds like it was a combination of Ricky going a little too far in his complaining, getting overly excited and Doc trying to break the team of the habit of complaining to the refs as much. The kids being there was just the icing on the cake.
Who knows, maybe Doc and Ricky set it up on purpose: "Hey Ricky, I need a scapegoat for complaining to the refs too much. How would you feel about getting out of practice early?"
