<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">At 6 p.m. yesterday, the 76ers forward's partially guaranteed contract became fully guaranteed at $620,046. Davis, the Player of the Year in the Continental Basketball Association last season, had accepted a $125,000 guarantee to come to training camp.

Players with partial guarantees or make-good contracts had to be waived before 6 p.m. if their teams did not want to pay the full value of the deals. In many cases, teams then re-sign the players to two 10-day contracts, then decide whether to re-sign them for the remainder of the season.

"Honestly, I hadn't even given this a thought," said Larry Fox, Davis' agent. "I was told back in November that Josh would be there for the whole year. He signed a partial guarantee, but it was a fair deal. They worked hard to sign him. They liked him in the summer, they liked him in training camp. He was in the CBA last season because we felt he could play in the NBA. If you're the best player there, if you're a well-rounded player, you have a chance. That was why he didn't go to Europe."</div>
