I would almost bet money he stays with USC. Snoop Dog is really pushing him hard to Oregon though, so you never know.
He's reportedly considering UW, also. It seems likely to me that he just wants to get some attention after having been considered a sure-thing for the Trojans for so long... We'll see tomorrow night at 5:00, I guess. Hopefully he becomes a great CB for the Ducks! Ed O.
Snoop and his son are both huge Ducks fans. His son especially is pushing him hard to go to Oregon because his son wants to play here also
I've heard that and read that about his son... but this is the first I've heard of Snoop wanting his son to go there. But I was always under the impression that Snoop was a big SC fan. I.e. the Larry King interview from the recruiting thread.
He actually said that he was "all about the quack" on one of his interviews I saw a couple of months ago. "stay off the crack, and get on the quack" I heard he had some sort of falling out with the SC people
Hey I'm all for it! And def not saying you are wrong, just that its news to me. Thanks for the info MM. "I must spread rep around"
Nice coup, Ducks. Reminds me of when Haloti Ngata switched from BYU to us. He was considered the best defensive high school player in the nation at the time.
Can't wait to see Snoop chilling with Uncle Phil on the sidelines... thats going to be a priceless advert for the program btw... DT's Black Mamba nickname that Snoop gave him while playing Pop Warner predates Kobe anointing himself with the same nickname. I recall when Kobe did that... what sort of douchebag gives themselves a nickname? Turns out it's the same sort of douchebag who would take something from a child. STOMP
Love the fact we got him. I had hope when I heard he visited us but wasn't gonna hold my breathe because I expected to be disappointed. I'v gone to a few football forums and USC fans are pretty much tearing there hair out and being slanderous to the ducks and shocking enough they are tearing DT apart saying he will never be anything and here glad he is gone. Duck fans are being quiet smug but come on, HUGE signing for us. Hope he does great things here.
Rivals has Thomas as a 4 star WR. They also list him at 6'. So much variance of opinions and data. In the end, I think it comes down to trusting our scouts and recruiting staff - that this kid is a good fit for the program needs. I could list many, many top 10 CB's, WR's, who never made the impact billed. Hope this kid isn't one of them, but I'm not impressed with the drama and him being late to the announcement. He better be more respectful to the Oregon staff than he was to the reporters and fans awaiting his decision. Nice sign. Good prospect. A lot to prove. Sorry for the glass half-full outlook. After years of following recruiting, seen too many top rated guys fall short. Welcome to Oregon, Thomas.
either you've got the wrong Thomas or the wrong site. Rivals lists him as a 5 star athlete and at 5'9 http://rivals.yahoo.com/oregon/football/recruiting/player-De'Anthony-Thomas-86729 did you see the video link I posted in the main recruiting thread? Here it is again. Dude was balling his eyes out and could barely hold it together as he announced. In the accompanying article he claims to have received 100+ phone calls that day, presumably many of which were not congratulatory in nature. I don't think him being late had anything to do with disrespecting fans and media but rather a reflection of the sort of day he had endured. Good luck to him and all the kids at all the programs, they all have a lot to prove on the field and off. As Chip tells his new guys, "I know what you were in HS, thats why I recruited you... what are you going to be now?" STOMP
