Hmm, i'm 50/50 on whether to believe this.

Sounds credible in a way, and I hope it is wrong, because that is just terrible.

We'll take care of him up here. No worries about that.

I find it very believable. There are numerous other reports about this. And LA gangs seem pretty gangish to me.

 

Seems to me if it's true, he won't be able to hide up here... hopefully it's not true.

 

Reasons why I don't think this story is true.

1. If he's a major witness in a murder investigation, he would've been a state witness in a public court of law against these "supposed" gangbangers. Meaning there would be actual 'proof' that he testified against such people.

2. Why Oregon? This kid was the number 5 ranked player by Rivals. He could've gone anywhere in the country yet he goes North in a town that's off the same interstate as Los Angeles. It doesn't make sense that if he really wanted to get away from fear of death you'd think he'd go to a place that's not a half a day drive away.

 

Yeah, like I said, it sounds like bullshit.

 

Those are all good points. I talked to a client who is an ex UO football player and a major donor and he tells me the kid is very genuine and the real deal. He says the coaching staff believes it- for what that's worth.

 

So this is something that the coaching staff knows about?

 

Reverse translation: "No one can resist USC's enchanting beauty. He must be gay."

 

Well, I suppose the fact he's here is all that matters.

 

If the guy truly fears for his life, I'm surprised he hasn't been put in protective custody by the Feds.

 

Or maybe the threat isn't quite what it's made out to be and he's just running scared.

 

Didn't happen. The NBC sportsblog is propagating really horrible unverified stories that originated at other blogs (in this case Conquest Chronicles).
