    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Dear Michael Finley:

    Please come home.

We know you can get more money in Miami and play alongside Shaquille O'Neal and get to the NBA Finals for sure.

We know that coming to Phoenix would mean going from one wacky owner, Mark Cuban, to another one, Robert Sarver.

Sarver messed up by not keeping Joe Johnson happy and in the fold. It's just that he doesn't know it yet.

If you come here, you'll probably save Sarver from his goof, but that isn't why we're asking.

We want you to do it for Steve Nash.

We've got a sneaking suspicion that while Nash has let you know that he would love to have you here, he's not putting on the full-court press after what has happened here this summer.

We noticed he wasn't listed among the Suns entourage in Chicago Tuesday to recruit you. Maybe it's because he's vacationing in Tahiti. We wanted to go there and ask him about this ourselves, but the boss put the kibosh on that.

Anyway, more than likely he didn't go to Chicago because he's already made his feelings known to you. However, we're worried that because of your friendship, he didn't convey how desperately you're needed.

Here's the thing: We were really excited when Nash returned to Phoenix last summer because he's one of the good guys in sports - like you - and he's a true playmaker.

He turned out to be the catalyst in a magical season that made the word "team" mean something again.

See, we told everybody how much fun that team was to watch and how great the chemistry was in the locker room. We bought in.

Nationally, the freewheeling Suns were called the team that would save the NBA. Fans fell in love with them. They bought in, too.

The front office, after telling those love-stricken fans they'd keep it all together and wouldn't they like to buy a ticket, sold out.

Two of five starters and all but five players from that "team" are gone.

Oh, we're being told the Suns will be better. We don't think so, at least not without you.

They added a couple of big guys, Kurt Thomas and Brian Grant and a guard you played with in Dallas, Raja Bell.

From everything we've heard, Bell, Thomas and Grant are terrific teammates, fellas that you will like.

Coach Mike D'Antoni is a good guy who creates a family atmosphere. By all accounts, players love his style of coaching and his style of basketball.

That's all good. But more important: Without Johnson, Nash needs you on the wing playing defense and hitting open shots.

Think of it as a chance to complete the unfinished business you guys started together with the Mavericks.

Keep in mind, the window of opportunity has suddenly narrowed. Oh, not for the Suns necessarily. They're going to lock up Amar? Stoudemire here pretty soon, and he's likely to ensure that they have a chance in the future.

But Nash's window may be close to slamming shut.

He's 31 years old. He's surrounded by an old team instead of a young one. Thomas and Grant are in their 30s. So is Jimmy Jackson. Yes, you are, too.

If Nash is going to get his championship here, it needs to happen pretty quickly, don't you think?

So we're just saying, forget about all the other stuff. Do it for Nash.

    It's all we've got.

    Sincerely, The Heat Index</div>
