after watching last nights game on espn, i have a question about dee brown. he made a lot of plays last night, showed his quickness with and without the ball, showed he can hit the three (college range, but he did have a couple of nba range threes) and showed he can score with 34 points. in most mock drafts, people have him being taken in the late second round. this just confuses me because after watching this guy, i was just amazed. he should be in the first round IMO. now, i am not very good at evaluating talent, but he should go higher than the later second round. all he lacks is basically size, which makes him have problems on defense, but look at nate robinson. he was picked in the first round in the last draft, i believe, or high second round. and all i can think of that nate has over dee is athleticism. not to mention that this years draft isnt deep at all. can someone clear this up for me?
As a big Dee brown fan I will be the first to tell you his shot is not nearly as good, on a consistent bases, as it was last night. Last night was a dream game for Dee everything was falling for him. It was his first really good shooting performance of the season, his shooting percentage has been the one knock on his game thus far this year. A lot of mock drafts have him going low, because a lot of people still view him as a undersized player who might have some trouble at the next level, I for one do not see it thought. Also nbadraft.net is not a very good source 9if that is the mock draft you looked at) if you are trying to check player position, or stock. They have short guys going late just because of there height. Last year they had Nate Robinson going mid second round, and they still don't have Allan Ray even getting drafted. I think he (Dee) will go mid to late first round if Illinois keeps winning and he performs well. A team looking for leadership, and a great young point guard Rockets, Lakers, etc should take a shot on him.
thanks for clearing it up for me BKS. i didnt know this was dee brown's "dream game" since i dont watch college hoops a lot. but i just checked nba draft net, and they do have allen ray on. they have him gone at pick 38, but dee brown at pick 51. lol.
I saw Dee play vs UNC early in the season, He will probably get drafted by toronto in the high 1st round

Brown's major problem is his ability, or lack thereof, to run the point and get teammates involved. However, almost as big of a concern is his shooting, and more importantly, his shot selection. He couldn't miss against Michigan State, but that was a career game. Outside of that particular game, Brown has been shooting about 30-35% from the field this season. A lot of that has to do with his shot selection. Even in the Michigan State game where he shot 12-22, a lot of his shots were illadvised. For example, the first three he even hit in the ball game was a contested shot from nearly halfcourt, and he didn't even look at the basket until he released the ball when he made that three before the half. If I had a mid to late first round pick, I'd probably still gamble on Dee Brown though. There's not a quicker player in the draft field.
