The mavericks are on pace to win the Western Conference and perhaps... an NBA title. I think it because of their superb bench which arguably better than any other in the NBA. They have a great starting unit and the 6 bench players (KVH, Harris, Armstrong, Stack, Daniels and Dampier) are all good enough to start on most teams in the league (except Armstrong, but he's for energy as evidenced by the Dallas comeback in Toronto). Tell me what other league's bench can contribute so much... only the spurs can really rival that and even so, I think Dallas is stronger.
There's no question about it. Talent wise, I think the Mavs and the Spurs bench are pretty even. But the Spurs bench has a lot of experience and that really sets them aside. Mavs usually play 10 players every game in the regular season. But come playoff time coaches including Avery will need to shorten the rotation. Daniels and Armstrong may never get a chance to play in the postseason.
Dallas has the most athletic overall roster in the league by far that is a big key to their success. By that I mean in terms of youth speed stamina etc, they don't have any freaks like Vince or Kobe but they are deep athletically where other teams have older guys, more "bangers", guys who will max out at 25 minutes of play or so.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AllNet:</div><div class="quote_post">Barbosa House Thomas Diaw Jones Grant is quite amazing as well.</div> You gotta be kidding me..Suns don't even have Thomas and Grant in the lineup anymore and Barbosa's still struggling to get back from his knee injury. Diaw's good, House and James Jones are way too inconsistent for bench players.

How does that make any sense <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The mavericks are on pace to win the Western Conference and perhaps... an NBA title.</div> No team is on pace to win the NBA championship. But yeah, the Mavs do have the deepest bench in the league; Stack, Van Horn, Harris, Dampier, Griffin...really deep.

House and Jones are averaging double fiqures on good %. They don't seem inconsistant to me at all. So I don't see how your points have any truth to them.
Tim Thomas is a good pickup, but his role in the team remains to be seen. Check out House, Barbosa and James Jones game log from this season and see if they've been scoring double digits every game as their average indicates..I'm having a little trouble in posting those formatted game logs, but I've had all 3 of 'em in my fantasy team this year and know how inconsistent they are. Raja Bell's the only one who's consistent apart from Nash and Marion.
All of the Suns' stats are bloated because of their style of play. Tim Thomas will turn back into the old Tim Thomas in a few games; Suns fans shouldnt get their hopes up. They are a good team, but the bench isnt as strong as it looks. I think the Mavs have the strongest, the Spurs right behind them

The depth of the Spurs bench will be more evident during the playoffs, where experience counts most. Sure Dallas has the athletes, but the playoffs are about keeping poise and playing with consistency. I love the Mavs, but their bench hasn't had the chance to prove anything yet. The Suns are also deep proven by their record without Amare and all their other injuries. However, until they can get a real backup point guard to Nash, other than a converted shooting guard (albeit playing very well) in House, then they are still a step down from Dallas and San Antonio.
<font color=""Blue"">Its a possiblility that the Mavs could be the most deep team in the league. But I think in the next couple years they will be more deep because of the youth on the bench right now. Theres a lot of room for improvement and hopefully in the next couple years they can exploit that. </font>
Miami is a very deep team when your 6-8 men are Antoine Walker, Gary Payton, and Derrick Anderon(usually ZO but hes out till playoff time) you know your a very deep team those are all guys who can start on many other teams. SA and Dallas are also very deep.
When healthy, Dallas really has a deep team. However, just like pointed out above, Spurs also have a rich team.
