If the Moss to Oakland trade goes thru then Surtain maybe on his way to KC. The trade scenario looks like this, "The Chiefs have the No. 15 overall pick in the first round but are unlikely to give up that high a pick. More likely, the Chiefs might be willing to give up their second-round pick and a future mid-round pick as a package for Surtain. Kansas City is seeking to seriously upgrade its defense, particularly after AFC West foe Oakland agreed to trade for Pro Bowl receiver Randy Moss."
I just hope we grab one of the "top-flight" CBs out there. We have spoken with Charles Woodson, Samari Rolle, Ty Law and Surtain. The truth is we could use 2 of them, but Lamar Hunt doesn't like to shell out the big signing bonuses that these guys would require. I just pray that he sees the window closing on this fabulous offense and tries something drastic. We can't throw too much money at the CB position though, because we are desperate for a gamebreaking LB too. We can get one of the needed starters via our 1st round pick, but the other 2 need to be culled out of free agency. I would prefer to sign 2 free agent corners (just because of the good market on CB availability this year) and draft a LB (or two). We need a MLB desperately, but an upgrade at OLB wouldn't hurt either. The organization probably is only looking at one CB, but I think Warfield would be better suited to be a nickel back.
Im hearing that Surtian is nearly a done deal. the Chiefs and Dolphins have agreed on the terms, its just a matter of workign out the contract, which Peterson was doing at the combine....
Woo Hoo! That's great news! Maybe we can finally move up to middle of the pack on defense. Rookie Jared Allen missed Derrick Thomas' rookie sack record by one (finished with 9) this year. A little more pressure on the opposing QB and a respectable CB floating out there to take advantage of the hurried passes could finally lift us to middle of the pack or better in the defensive rankings. Still need 1 more corner and a solid MLB though. If they swing those two things through their 1st rounder and Free Agency, I'm getting back aboard the Super Bowl or bust train. Look out Patriots, here we come!
