I noticed this tonight, watching my first full game in a while, also from the boxscores lately. He's getting a lot better at finding the open man and getting it to him immediately. It seems sudden to me, although it could've been happening for a while.
You are absolutely right. You hit it right on the head: he has been making quicker decisions, and lately almost all of those decisions have turned out to be good ones. But last night, he impressed me with finding the open man off penetration, in the paint. Rondo can do that too, and he did, but Perk and his clumsiness didn't catch them haha. But Delonte did such a great job last night. The one area where Delonte has improved the most, passing-wise, is the pick n' roll. His rookie year, and even last year, he rarely tried it because he wasn't that good with it. Now that we have a guy like Al at his best, who really is unstoppable off the pick n' roll, Delonte gets it done beautifully. He waits for the pick, draws the defense, recognizes the opening quickly, and bounces it right to him. It's not a low pass either, where the big man would have to crouch down to get the ball, they bounce right into his hands. I am so happy that my man D-West is back. This is the Delonte we all know and love. He has started to get back on track from last season, yet he has improved his playmaking skills immensely. Delonte is the kind of guy I hope we can hold onto long term. Even if he's not the best point guard in the league, his heart, hustle, and personality is virtually irreplaceable.
