Gennaro Delvecchio is so underrated. He will play an integral part in Sampdoria's chances for a UEFA Cup spot.
I remember him playing for Roma a few years back and can't believe he is now playing for such a small club as Sampdoria. He is a superb foward.
You're thinking of Marco Delvecchio actually. He retired in 2007 after a stint with Ascoli before they dropped to Serie B. Central midfielder Gennaro Delvecchio came through as a Serie C project who didn't peak until 29 years old. He spent a successful season at Lecce on loan before Sampdoria kept him on as a first team player. Also, Sampdoria is not a small club. They have a good amount of cash to spend thanks to oil-rich Genoa native Riccardo Garrone. His cash flow helped them reach Serie A back in 2002.
